TOSS WITH TONGS
Sports Activity – Pre Primary
On October 23, 2024, the Montessori department's 'Toss with Tongs' activity for pre-primary children was a resounding success! This interactive exercise skillfully combined fun and learning, focusing on developing fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and teamwork. As children took turns tossing and catching with tongs, they honed their social interaction, precision, and skill development. Laughter and excitement filled the air as they engaged in this playful learning experience. By integrating play and education, the Montessori department created a unique and enriching experience for their young students, fostering a love for learning and social growth.
ANIMAL ADVENTURES
'Animal Adventures' sports activity was a roaring success! Children embarked on a fun-filled journey, learning about animal food and habitats while enjoying an exciting game. They navigated an obstacle course, matching animals with their favorite foods and placing them in their rightful homes. Laughter and excitement filled the air as they discovered new facts about their furry and feathered friends. This engaging activity promoted physical fitness, problem-solving skills, and a love for wildlife. With big smiles and happy hearts, our young adventurers took home valuable lessons and unforgettable memories!
Celebrating the Spirit of the 15th All India Bal Bharati Inter Unit Sports Meet
The Montessori Department's young sports stars celebrated the 15th All India Bal Bharati Inter Unit Sports Meet on October 3, 2024, with a lively, bagless day. Children participated in energizing activities like yoga, aerobics, and traditional games such as Kho-Kho and tug of war, fostering fitness, teamwork, and a connection to cultural heritage.
The event's mascot, "The Balbee," was introduced, and a PowerPoint presentation emphasized the importance of physical activity while highlighting notable sports achievements. The day ended with happy faces and unforgettable memories, promoting the value of an active lifestyle.
On September 30, 2024, the Montessori Department organized a unique and engaging sports activity, 'Fauna Feast,' for our preschoolers.
This innovative event allowed our young explorers to interact and feed various animals, fostering a deeper appreciation and understanding of wildlife.
The 'Fauna Feast' activity was carefully designed to promote physical activity, social skills, and emotional intelligence in our children. Participating in this hands-on experience, our preschoolers developed essential life skills such as empathy, responsibility, and cooperation.
BREAK THE BARRIER
The Montessori Department organized an interesting sports activity – Break the Barriers for our pre-schoolers on 21.08.24. The activity was designed with challenging obstacles to keep our young ones engaged throughout. The children stepped through the hoopla rings without touching them, passed the gate by crawling through it maintaining coordination, and crossed the vibrant tunnel with excitement as it helps in developing confidence and self-belief in them.
HURDLE FUN
The Montessori Department recently organized a fun-filled "Hurdle Fun" sports activity for Pre-Primary students on Tuesday, 6/8/24. The event featured engaging obstacles like hopscotch, zigzagging through cones, stepping through hoopla rings, and following a specific pattern. These challenges not only kept the young athletes entertained but also helped develop their balance, coordination, dexterity, spatial awareness, and memory, all while embodying the spirit of sportsmanship.
FISHING FOR BALLS
While education broadens our minds, sports energize and maintain our bodies. A congenial water sports activity titled "Fishing For Balls" was orchestrated on the 26th of July, 2024, for preschool children. This game is designed to help preschool kids develop important skills such as patience, self-confidence, and creativity. Activities such as picking, fishing the ball, and pouring it aid in enhancing children's gross motor skills and coordination. Furthermore, they foster self-reliance, confidence, and focused attention.
FILL DON'T SPILL
A lively sports event called "Fill Don't Spill" was organized for the Pre-Primary children on July 12, 2024. The event aimed to encourage physical activity, cooperation, and coordination among the young participants. It provided an enjoyable opportunity for the children to learn about water conservation by demonstrating how water can be reused, minimizing wastage. Additionally, the activity emphasized the significant role of sports in promoting both physical and mental well-being.
On April 26th, 2024, a friendly event named "Ring Balance Relay" was conducted for the children of Pre-Primary at the Montessori Department. The grounds of Bal Bharati School were filled with cheers as our young athletes participated in the exhilarating relay race. From balancing acts to speedy sprints, every participant displayed incredible teamwork, supporting each other every step of the way. It was heartwarming to see the small feet and big hearts of these little athletes shine with pride and joy, creating memories to cherish for a lifetime.

BEAT THE BARRIERS
While education broadens our minds, sports energize and maintain our bodies to allow children to find a solution and learn to break the complexity of a game exposure to hurdles in a play is the best way.
One such element is to engage young children in hurdle races which are not only a fun filled and exciting but also have a great impact on their physical, emotional, and social development. Running, jumping, and balancing through the obstacles of a hurdle race helps children to improve their gross motor skills and coordination. Keeping in view a friendly Hurdle Race named “Break the Barriers” was conducted on “December 7th, 2023” for the children of Pre-school in the Montessori Department. The children were engaged in running, jumping, and balancing to cross the track full of obstacles. It helped them to be independent and confident as they successfully navigated to reach the end spot, and completed the fun race.
PASSING THE BALL

Sports activities are an essential part of childhood, and they provide children with various skills that will benefit them in the long run. One of the most critical skills that children learn in sports is balancing.
"Passing the Ball” activity was organized on 6.12.23 for Pre-Primary children to provide them a fun and engaging experience in an interesting way.
"Bounding with energy, kids gather on the field, their laughter echoing as they engage in a spirited game. The activity aimed to develop various skills and foster a positive social environment. The game involved passing a ball among participants, emphasizing teamwork, coordination, and motor skills. Simple yet magical, this game of passing the ball weaved a tapestry of connection, where every pass and throw was a moment of shared joy in the playground."
The activity not only kept them motivated but also helped them to develop their skills in a playful and engaging manner.
हरा समुन्दर गोपी चन्दर”

On 27 October 2023, a fun-filled traditional game - “हरा समुन्दर गोपी चन्दर” was conducted for the children of Pre School. This game paved way not only to provide entertainment but also serve as a learning platform for children. It showcased reflection of our cultural heritage and helped instill values and traditions in young minds. Moreover, such games promote social interaction and teamwork among children teaching them important skills like communication, cooperation, and sportsmanship. The aim of the activity was to make the tiny tots participate, enhance vocabulary and build interpersonal skills. This activity was enjoyed by all with great zeal.
DOG AND THE BONE
The key to happy learning is through play!
Children love to play and learning through a game is the best way to make them imbibe life skills. One way is to involve pupils in traditional games that offer a multitude of benefits like focusing on holistic development towards learning and growth, to ensure that children get the invaluable benefits of such conventional games.
A fun-filled Sports Activity “Dog and the Bone” was conducted on 12.09.2023 for the children of Pre-School from the Montessori Department. The activity helped the tiny tots to develop their gross and fine motor skills, enhance their eye-hand coordination, widen their static thinking, improve interpersonal skills, and learn empathy towards animals. In addition to this, the activity allowed them to reinstall their knowledge of recognition of numbers and eating habits of pet animal- Dog.
The activity was of great value, as children experienced the joy of learning through playing one of the conventional games.
KOKLA CHAPPAKI
Pre Primary
A sports activity was organized on September 11, 2023, for the Pre-Primary students. The featured activity was "Kokla Chappaki," a traditional Indian game. In this game, all participants, except for one, formed a circle and sat on the ground. The player in the center, holded a handkerchief and ran around the seated players in a circle while singing the song "Kokla chapaki jumeraat aayi aye re, jera agge pichey wekhey odhi shaamat aayi aye."
This game served a dual purpose—it enhanced running skills and sharpened the observation skills. Those seated in the circle stayed alert, closely monitoring the movements of the player in the center. Beyond its physical benefits, Kokla Chappaki also helped to foster social interaction among the children, making it an enjoyable and engaging activity.
FROG AND THE PUDDLE RACE
Pre-School
A healthy mind dwells in a strong body so play sports!
A fun-filled sports activity named “Frog and the Puddle Race” was conducted on 22.08.2023 for the children of Preschool from the Montessori Department.
The activity aimed to make the tiny tots participate and showcase their physical ability to hop/jump like a frog, developing their gross and fine motor skills enhancing eye-hand coordination, widening their static thinking, boosting, confidence, and improving their knowledge and linguistic skills in a fun way and reinforcing their understanding on the things and creatures they see during the rainy seasons.
All the children were prepped by wearing a frog's headgear and were allotted tracks. Further, each Child hopped/jumped like a frog and moved ahead on the respective track. While hopping, each child crossed over the two hurdles which were shaped like puddles, blue as water, and brown as muddy puddles respectively. Towards the end, the child picked up an umbrella placed prior to the finishing point. The activity ended when the child said aloud ‘I love Rainy Season”.
It was a fun filled activity, enjoyed by all the children.
HOPSCOTCH
"Hopscotch"- a fun-filled and a colourful outdoor sports activity was planned for the Pre-Primary children on 17.08.23. The children were encouraged to jump on the footprints placed in right and left directions. This activity provided them with an opportunity to learn to follow the various directions in an interesting way. The activity also helped them to coordinate their body movements by following the simple rules and challenges of the game. The children thoroughly enjoyed the activity.
Hurdle Race
"Hurdle Race", a fun-filled outdoor sports activity was planned for the Pre-Primary children on 20.07.23. The children were encouraged to jump over the hurdles placed at specific intervals along the track. The children thoroughly enjoyed the fun activity. This activity provided them with an opportunity to improve their gross and fine motor skills. It encouraged them to develop their problem-solving skills and incorporate cognitive learning by following different rules and challenges.
SPORTS ACTIVITY - “Ek Kadam Swatchta Ki Aor

On 07.07.2023 a fun-filled sports activity named “Ek Kadam Swatchta Ki aor" was conducted for the children of Pre School from the Montessori Department. This activity aimed to make children aware and responsible for their duty towards keeping
their surroundings clean. The activity also initiated to make children aware of the importance of cleanliness and motivate them to instill the value of keeping the surroundings clean. This activity turned out to be of great value wherein they enjoyed walking on horizontal and vertical patterns, helped the little tots to maintain balance, enhance Eye-hand coordination and develop their fine and gross motor skills in a fun way.
LET’S BLOSSOM
Sports, like education, play an important role in our lives. In light of this, "Let's Blossom", a fun-filled outdoor sports activity was conducted for the Preschool children on 10th of May, 2023. The purpose of the activity was to engage the little toddlers in a fun physical activity that would help them improve their fine and gross motor skills.
The following preparations were made in advance for the activity:
- Four tracks were constructed using coloured tape and cones.
- A tub of handmade red and yellow flowers was placed in the middle of the track.
- A pot of mud was kept at the finish line.
The activity began with a quick warm-up exercise. The following instructions were given to the children by the teacher in charge:
- Start running within the allotted track at the blow of the whistle.
- Collect the red and yellow flowers kept in the tub on the track.
- Run towards the finish line and place the flowers inside the previously placed pot at the end.
The children thoroughly enjoyed the activity. They were ecstatic and had a great time participating in the activity. The activity provided them with an opportunity to improve their gross and fine motor skills. It also taught them to be patient and to appreciate the spirit of sportsmanship.
BALANCE BUDDY
An activity, "Balance Buddy" was conducted in the Montessori Department on 11 may 2023. The aim of the activity was to make children learn the importance of collaboration while having fun with their peers. The activity not only met the objectives, but it also boosted their confidence and instilled the value of being thankful to one another for being helpful.
The activity began with some warm-up exercises, after which the following instructions were given:
- Children were instructed to stand on the sides of the first chair placed on the track in such a way that they could see their partner standing opposite them.
- They were given an A4 coloured sheet and a ball to balance on it.
- While balancing the ball on the sheet, both partners were to walk and cross over all ten chairs placed between the tracks before dropping the ball in the tub at the finish point.
- They bowed and thanked their partner saying: "Thank you, Buddy’’ at the finishing point.
The activity was thoroughly enjoyed by the children. It taught them how to balance, coordinate, and work as a team to achieve a goal.
FILL THE TUB PRE-PRIMARY 19.04.2023
A fun and educational outdoor activity is the best way to make young learners happy and cheered up, and for the same a Fill the Tub sports activity was planned and executed for the students of Pre Primary.The purpose of the activity was to help the young students improve their fine and gross motor skills. Using coloured tape, a zigzag pattern was created on the floor for this activity. Towards the end, two tubs were placed next to one another of which one contained coloured water and the other was kept empty empty. Children moved in a zigzag pattern while using a sponge to transfer coloured water from one tub to another. The activity was very enjoyable for the young learners.
SESSION 2022-2023
SPORTS DAY PRE-SCHOOL & PRE-PRIMARY 17.02.2023
Sports play a very important role in our life. A school’s sports day helps everyone involved realize the importance of physical fitness and strength. The much-awaited Sports day of Montessori department was held on 17.02.2023 with great zeal, excitement and colorful atmosphere. The field and the tracks were decorated beautifully. The students entered the school playground in the spirit of the occasion. The programme began by welcoming the Principal, Mr. L.V. Sehgal. There was a massive participation of 140 boys and 140 girls from both Pre-School & Pre-Primary. 16 colorful & interesting races were planned for the tiny tots.
The sporting spirit was apparent, and all the children enjoyed participating in the races. Medals and certificates were awarded to the winners. It was a fun filled experience for our tiny tots.
GET INTO RINGS PRE SCHOOL 27.01.23
A Sports activity “Get into Rings” was organized for Pre School children on 27/01/23. In this activity children were asked to stand at the starting point and run towards the finishing point by passing through the ring which was placed in the middle of the track. It was a competitive race in which best 5 students from each section were awarded with a merit certificate. Children participated in the activity with great zeal and enthusiasm.
THINGS WE SEE IN THE SKY 19.10.22 PRE-SCHOOL
Sports activities are always fun filled and provide sense of enjoyment to the children. The theme of the month- Things we see in the Sky was interestingly integrated with the sports activity in which they applied cognitive skills to segregate the picture cutouts to discriminate the day and night sky.
MY DIWALI 18.10.2022 PRE-PRIMARY
A fun filled Sports Activity “MY DIWALI” was organized for the children of Pre-Primary at the outdoor vicinity of school. Tracks were made where in, a big Diya was placed at the end point. After warm-up, the activity was explained to the children of how the small diyas are to be pasted in the big diya. This fun filled sports activity helped children to strengthen their gross muscles, building their body balance and gaining confidence. The children participated enthusiastically and enjoyed this fun activity.
I LOVE CARROT 12.09.22
Sports develop physical fitness, self-esteem and confidence among the children. A fun-filled sports activity 'I Love Carrot ' was conducted for Pre-schoolers on 12.9.22 in the school premises. Children enjoyed hopping like a rabbit wearing the head bands of rabbit ears. In this activity children collected a carrot kept on the track and they hopped to the finishing point. This interesting activity not only entertained them but also motivated them to eat healthy food. The activity enabled the children to enhance their gross motor skills and express their happiness and joy while engaging in this activity.
JUMPING FROG 30.08.22
A fun sports activity 'Jumping frog ' was conducted for Pre-school students on 30.08.22 at the open area in the school premises. Children enjoyed hopping like a frog with their head gears on the paper puddles and crossed the track. At the end point, they said aloud 'I love rain' to apprise about the prevailing monsoon season. The activity enabled the children to enhance their gross motor skills and express their happiness and joy while engaging in this activity.
WALK & HOP (PRE- SCHOOL)- 08.07.22
Sports Activity ‘Walk and Hop’ was organized for Pre School children on 08.7.22. Children walked on Zig Zag Trail made with a coloured tape on the floor from the starting point. They were encouraged to walk on the track slowly and steadily balancing their body, after which they hopped in 3 rings moving towards the finishing point. All the children participated in the activity with great zeal. This activity helped them in building their gross muscles and improving their attention span. They also learnt to concentrate and calm themselves.
PUDDLE JUMPING RACE (PRE- PRIMARY)- 07.07.22
Sports Activity “Puddle Race” was organized for the children of Pre-Primary on 07.07.22 at the outdoor vicinity of school. Tracks were made wherein, two blue coloured puddles (depicting rain water) and one paper boat were placed at distance to each other. A tub filled with water was kept at the finishing point. Children were lined up for the race after warm-up & they were explained the activity. Children were assisted to stand at the starting point in a line. One by one each child ran on the track and jumped over the puddle. Afterwards they picked up the boat & floated it in the water tub kept at the finishing point. This fun filled sports activity helped children in strengthening their gross muscles, building their body balance and gaining confidence. The children participated enthusiastically and enjoyed this fun activity.
LET’S FILL THE TUB (PRE- SCHOOL)- 13.05.22
A Sports Activity “Let's fill the tub” was organized for the children of Pre-school on 13.05.22. In this activity, one tub was filled with water and placed at the starting point and the other empty tub was placed at the end point. Children were instructed to fill the mug with water from the tub placed at the starting point. They were required to carry this mug full of water to the end point and pour the same water in the empty tub, ensuring that the water doesn’t spill on the floor. After completion of this activity, children were encouraged to use this water for watering the plants without wasting it. This activity helped in sensitizing the children towards water conservation, strengthening their gross muscles, building their body balance and gaining confidence. The children participated enthusiastically and enjoyed this fun activity.
FILL THE BALLS (PRE- PRIMARY)- 12.05.22
A Sports Activity “FILL THE BALLS” was organized for the children of Pre Primary on 12.05.22 in the outdoor vicinity of school. A track was made with two tubs one in the middle filled with colorful balls and the other at the finishing point which was empty. Children were lined up for the activity after some warm-up, they one by one picked up the ball from the middle tub and filled in the empty tub with the colorful balls. It was a time-based game, the class which finished it first was the winner. This activity helped in strengthening their gross muscles, building their body balance and gaining confidence. The children participated enthusiastically and enjoyed this fun activity.
OBSTACLE RACE 28.04.22
Sports Activity “Obstacle Race“ was organized for Pre Primary children on 28.04.22 in the outdoor vicinity of school. Children were lined up for an obstacle jump after warm-up, and were explained the activity. The children jumped /crossed over the two obstacles and then passed through a hoopla ring. To end the race, they picked up a flag and placed it in a pot at the endpoint of track. This activity helped in strengthening their gross muscles, building their body balance and gaining confidence. The children participated enthusiastically and enjoyed this fun activity.
