My Trendy Almanac

The Club Activity- My Trendy Almanac conducted on 28.1.21 was aimed at giving the students an opportunity to make their own Calendar that allows them to prioritise their work effectively. A video which briefed them about the need of a calendar was uploaded on the portal. It included a detailed explanation of the steps to create a trendy almanac for themselves. The students showcased their creativity the made colourful calendars and marked important dates and events in it. 

Making a Sand Clock

In the club activity conducted on 24.12.20, the students learnt to make a Sand Clock with the help of empty cold drink bottles, cardboard pieces and paper straws.

The students enjoyed doing the activity and shared their videos and pictures. They were advised to use this simple time measuring tool to play one-minute fun games. They gifted this homemade sand clock to some underprivileged children in the neighbourhood and  brought a smile on their face.

Making Patterns on a Mask

In the club activity, conducted on 26 November 2020, the students explored patterns. They were motivated and encouraged to observe and identify different patterns in their surroundings.

In the follow-up activity they were taught how to make patterns on a mask with the help of different vegetables blocks and fabric colours. They showcased their work and  shared the masks  community helpers like the gardener, house- help, security guard, driver etc. They also took all necessary precautions while sharing the mask.

Weighty Affairs 

To highlight and apprise the students of the importance of Mathematics in our day-to-day life, the activity – Weighty Affairs was conducted virtually. Students were taught to make a weighing balance with the material that is generally available at everyone’s home. As a follow-up activity, the children were asked to weigh different objects like marbles, cello tape, pens, colours etc. 

Generating a Cash Memo 

 

To highlight and apprise the students of the importance of Mathematics in our day-to-day life, the activity – Generating a Cash-memo was conducted virtually. The need and importance of a bill/cash memo explained through a video tutorial which also illustrated the method of creating it using basic mathematical operations. As a follow-up activity, the children were asked to prepare a list of items they had recently bought and then generate a cash memo for the purchased items.

Tessellations

The Club endeavours to help children explore different Mathematical concepts in a fun way and use the knowledge gained in day-to-day life situations. The activity organized on 27.8.20 was based on patterns. The students are made aware of the different patterns we see in nature and in things around us. They were explained what a tessellation pattern is and a video tutorial on steps of making the same was shared with them. They enthusiastically showcased their creativity and made different tessellations patterns.

My Organiser 

The Virtual Club Activity - My Organiser organized on 30.7.20 was aimed at giving the students an opportunity to prepare their own organizer that would help them utilize their time effectively. A video was uploaded on the Connected Classrooms portal which briefed them about the need and importance of a timetable. It also explained how a timetable can be used as an effective tool to manage time especially during the lockdown. The children created their own daily and weekly timetable with the help of the detailed step-by-step explanation given in the video.

Fun with 2D and 3D shapes

The activity aimed at giving the students an opportunity to explore the world of shapes.  A video that briefed the children about the basic 2D and 3D shapes was uploaded on the portal. It included a detailed explanation about shapes and how different objects & figures can be made using these shapes. A video tutorial for making a rocket out of 2D shapes and a castle out of 3D shapes was uploaded for the students. They created their masterpieces while exploring and having fun with shapes.
