Sports Activity-Roll and Score (Class I)(22.02.2018)

 

An Inter House Sports Activity -Roll and Score was organised for the students of Class I on 22.02.18. The participating teams  rolled the ball towards the goal and tried to score. The teams scoring the highest number of goals were declared as the winners.

Eureka – Science Quiz  : Class III ( 16.02.2018)

 

Eureka,an inter-class Science Quiz was conducted for the students of Class III on 16.02.18. Eight teams with three members each representing the different sections of Class III participated in the quiz. The Quiz Masters posed questions  aimed at assessing the subject  knowledge & application of scientific concepts along with skills like problem solving and team work. All the teams enthusiastically participated and attempted the challenging questions which were divided
into four rounds-Question & Answer, Visual , Grid & Puzzle and Rapid Fire round.
The First position was won by Class III D scoring full marks while Classes III A and III F were declared Second and Third respectively after a tie breaker round.

Sports Activity- Jump over the Hurdles (Class II) ( 15.02.2018)

An Inter-House Sports Activity - Jump over the Hurdles ,was organised for the students of Class II on 15.2.18.

The teams comprising 20 students each jumped over the hurdles and completed the activity in a rally. The teams completing  the activity in the shortest span of time were declared as the winners. The participants displayed physical strength and endurance along with coordination and team work.

 Sports Activity-Class III ( 08.02.2018)

 

An Inter-House Sports Activity - Dribble, Pass and Score was organised for the students of class III on 8.2.2018. Each House was represented by a  team of 20 students from different sections of Class III. The participants  had to dribble & pass the basketball to the other players of their team and together aim to score a basket. The teams skilfully dribbled and passed the ball to score a basket and enthusiastically competed with each other with sportsmanship, spirit & vigour.

 Suankan - Hindi Calligraphy Competition (07.12.18)

 

 To enlighten the students of the importance of good handwriting and motivate them to enhance their skills, Suankan, an Intra Class Hindi Calligraphy Competition for Class I and Inter Class Competition for Classes II and III was organised on 7.12.17. All the students actively participated and showcased their calligraphic skills. They were assessed on various parameters like accuracy of strokes, neatness, spacing between letters, presentation etc.

 NIE Workshop for students of Class III (31.01.18)

 

Under the aegis of the NIE  Programme(Newspaper in Education) in collaboration with The Hindu, a  special workshop- ‘Do it Verbs and Spell Bee’ was organised for the students of Class III on 31 January, 2018 . The workshop was conducted by  Ms. Neetu, Mr. Rajesh Goyal,  Ms.Meet along with Ms. Jaswinder Kaur (Coordinator Workshops,The Hindu).
The aim of the workshop was to improve and hone the language skills of the students with  special  focus on grammar and spellings. The trainers used active learning methodologies to teach verbs through fun, exciting and engaging lessons. The students were also engaged in  games like hangman and dumb charades to guess the correct word and its spellings. The session ended with a round up activity wherein the students were divided into teams and a short spell bee quiz was conducted. All the students actively participated in various activities during the session and it was indeed a very interactive and interesting learning experience for the young learners of class III.

Look and Say (25.01.2018) 

 

‘Look and  Say’ , an intra-class Bal Sabha Activity was conducted for class I on 25 January 2018. The participants displayed & described a wide range of  objects  like a mike, plant, clock and globe etc. The interesting content and captivating performances by the participants left the judges awestruck and those who exhibited an unmatched level of confidence and shared  informative content through an innovative presentation were declared as the winners.

Republic Day Special Assembly (24.01.2018) 

 

To mark the  69th Republic Day celebrations in school a special assembly was organised at the Pusa Road Campus on 24.01.18. The assembly programme was presented by the students of Class II E and III B . The programme began with a tribute to our freedom fighters who laid down their lives for the freedom of our country. The students were apprised of the importance of Republic Day celebration. A group of students dramatised the Republic Day Parade and the little soldiers’ marching kept the audience enthralled. The parade was followed by a rhythmic dance presentation on the song ‘Des Mera Rangila'. The presentation which had a patriotic fervour touched and filled the hearts of the young citizens of India with the deep feeling of patriotism. The teachers and students together pledged to be dutiful citizens.

Expressions-22.12.2017

 

Expressions- An Intra Class Creative Writing Competition for Class I and Inter Class Competition for Classes II & III was organised on 22.12.17. The aim of the competition was to provide a platform to the students to express and showcase their creativity & writing skills. The students of Class I wrote a few sentences on the theme - ‘My School’.
The theme for the students of Class II was ‘Slogan Writing’ on the topic , ‘Caring for Mother Earth’. Students wrote thought provoking slogans and enhanced their presentation through pictures and drawings.
The students of Class III wrote interesting stories and paragraphs with the help of clue words provided. They used their imagination and creativity to reflect their thoughts and created amazing stories.

Pre Carnival Fun (12.12.2017 to 14.12.2017)

 

Prior to the Winter Carnival held on 17.12.17, a Movie Show and Joy Rides were organised for the students of Classes I , II and III from 12.12.17 to 14.12.17.
The students of Class I watched the movie, ‘The Good Dinosaur’ ,  a heartwarming story about friendship. Students of Class II enjoyed watching the movie ‘The Big Hero 6’, a story about the power of brotherly love, encouragement and support. The students of Class III watched the hilarious movie ‘Despicable Me 3’.
The students  also enjoyed the Joy Rides put up in the school playground.

Music and Dance Programme (29.11.2017)

 

The annual Music and Dance programme was organised for the students of classes I, II and III on 29.11.17. The occasion was graced by the Principal, Mr. L.V. Sehgal ; Vice Principal Ms.Meena Malhotra ; Headmistresses , Dr. Sunita Gehani, Ms. Poonam Sondhi & Ms. Neelam Ahuja ; Sports Director, Mr. Anand Seth ; AO Mr. R P Singh ; members of the Parent Teacher Association and parents of the participants.

The programme which was a perfect amalgamation of sur and taal was presented by a group of around 300 students. It began with a prayer sung by the students of Class I followed by a welcome song  presented by the students of Class II. The students of Class III who were dressed up as their favourite Chacha Nehru sang a melodious song and paid a tribute to the great leader and the first Prime Minister of India, Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru.
Our budding talented instrumentalists from Class II and III presented an enthralling fusion of western and classical music which left the audience awestruck.
A group of students from Classes I and II presented a Bengali folk dance which was applauded by all. The finale was a vibrant Odissi  folk dance presented by a group of dancers from Classes II and III.

REFLECTIONS  (21.11.2017)

 

An Inter Class Bal Sabha Competition - Reflection (Character Depiction) was organised for the students of Class III on 21.11.17. The theme for the competition was 'Iconic Personalities of India'.
With an aim to encourage mass participation a preliminary round  which was open for all the students was conducted  on 20.11.17. It witnessed an overwhelming participation and three students from each section were selected for representing their respective classes in the final inter class round.
In the final round held on 21.11.17, the participants who were impressively dressed up exhibited confidence while imitating various characters like The Sadguru, Kalpana Chawla, Dr. Kiran Bedi, Mary Kom , Mithali Raj, Subhash Chandra Bose , Rani Padmavati etc. Ms Reetu Dawar and Ms. Deepa Ahuja judged the event on parameters like costume, confidence and presentation. The Headmistress Dr. Sunita Gehani expressed her delight over the splendid performance of all the students and congratulated the winners.

CHILDREN'S DAY (14.11.2017)

 

To mark the Children’s Day celebration a host of activities was organised by the Primary Department, Pusa Road campus on 14.11.17. The activities aimed at celebrating the essence of childhood and paying a tribute to the first Prime Minister of India, Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru. The students were shown a PPT and documentary film related to the life of Pandit Nehru to apprise them of the importance and significance of the day. Screening of different children’s movies and songs was organised for the students who joyfully sang along and danced to the foot-tapping music. Different craft activities were organised for the students of Class I and II which included making of Nehru Cap using a newspaper, Colouring and Drawing Activity and Card making Activity. The students of Class III enjoyed a ‘Cooking without Fire Activity’ and made sandwiches, bhelpuri , vegetable & fruit salad. All the classrooms were beautifully decorated and the entire campus wore a festive look. The students enthusiastically participated in all the activities and had fun-filled day. Headmistress Ms. Sunita Gehani greeted the students on the occasion and wished them good luck for all their future endeavours.

CLEANLINESS DRIVE (06.11.2017)

 

To sensitize the students towards the need for keeping our surroundings clean and thus contribute towards a clean and green planet, a cleanliness drive was organised by the Primary Department, Pusa Road Campus on 6.11.17.
To make the drive more captivating & engrossing some students who were dressed up as a broom , dustbin etc moved around the campus and while addressing the other students they highlighted the importance of cleanliness in our lives. They also shared different measures to be taken for a clean & healthy surrounding.
All the students along with the staff members actively took part in the drive and cleaned the classrooms and corridors.

REFLECTIONS - CLASS II (01.11.2017 & 02.11.2017)

 

An inter-class Bal Sabha Activity – ‘Reflection’ (Character Depiction) was organised for the students of class II on 1.11.17 and 2.11.17. The theme for the costume fiesta was 'Non-Living Things'.

The preliminary round was conducted on 1.11.17 and three best entries from each section were chosen for the final round which was conducted on 2.11.17. The students showcased innovative ideas to represent different characters like brick, candle, toilet, broom, dustbin, table, newspaper, LED bulb etc. They brought the otherwise lifeless non-living things to life with their captivating performances.   Polish delegation of teachers and students who visited our school under EUmIND exchange programme also enjoyed    and appreciated the performance of the students.

NATIONAL UNITY DAY (31.10.2017)

 

To commemorate the birth anniversary of ‘Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’ also known as the ‘Iron Man of India’, ‘National Unity Day’ was celebrated at the Pusa Road Campus on 31.10.2017. The highlight of the celebrations was a run in which almost 1800 students from Classes Pre-school to III particitipated. An oath taking ceremony was also conducted and all the students & staff members pledged to sincerely contribute towards cause of unity, peace and harmony in the country. This was followed by screening of two documentary films highlighting the life of Sardar Patel and his contribution in the freedom struggle of our nation. The Headmistress, Dr.Sunita Gehani addressed the students and emphasised the need for being a dutiful and conscious citizen.

BAL SABHA ART ACTIVITY (12.10.2017)

 

Bal Sabha Art Activity was organised for the students of Classes I-III on 12.10.17.The students of Class I participated in an intra-class 'Card Making Competition' and made attractive Diwali, Thank -You, Christmas and New Year cards. The students of Class II participated in an inter-class ‘Rangoli Making Competition'. They showcased their creative skills while presenting the traditional art on paper using cut-outs and motifs. The students of class III participated in 'Decorative Frills Making Competition'. They used their imagination & artistic skills and made beautiful frills using paper cutouts , ribbons, strings, mirrors and other decorative material.

Anti - Firecracker Campaign and Diwali Celebration (11.10.2017)

 

An ‘Anti-Firecracker Campaign’ was organised by the Primary Department, Pusa Road Campus on 11.10.17 to mark Deepawali celebration in school. The event was aimed at sensitising the students and staff members towards the ill effects of firecrackers. A host of activities was organised on the occasion as per the guidelines of Govt. of NCT of Delhi. These included-
1. Special Assembly
A special ‘Joint Assembly’ was organised for the students of Classes I-II. Through a colourful presentation, the students depicted the story of Lord Rama and his victory over Ravana. The students were apprised of the ill effects of crackers on the environment. The impact of air and noise pollution on birds and animals was also highlighted. Through teacher talk the harmful effects of air pollution & noise pollution on the health & well-being of all living creatures were explained and the need to protect the environment was discussed.
2. Pledge
The students and teachers together pledged to celebrate a ‘Cracker Free Diwali’ and promised to do their bit to stop air and noise pollution in the city.
3. Students March
The students marched with placards and banners in the school campus and appealed to all to celebrate a ‘Cracker Free, Green Diwali’ and spread happiness and joys. They also made cards with the same message and  presentedthem along with a chocolate to all the staff members in the school including school bus drivers, conductors , maids and sweepers.
4. Interactive Session
The students were shown different videos to sensitise and motivate them to work for the cause and contribute towards a greener and cleaner city and country.
5. Drawing and Colouring Activity
The students made beautiful drawings depicting the cause and wrote thought provoking messages.

Swimming Competition  (26.9.2017- 27.09.2017)

Inter-Class Swimming Competition for Classes I & III and Class II was organised by the Primary Department, Pusa Road Campus on 26.9.17 and 27.9.17 respectively. The participants who had been rigorously practicing for the event displayed their swimming skills in various races. These included Kick Board Race, Freestyle Single Length and Relay Race for Class I and Freestyle Single Length, Freestyle Double Length, Backstroke and Relay Race for Classes II & III. The occasion was graced by Sports Director, Mr. Anand Seth who applauded the enthralling performance and sportsmanship of all the participants. Winners in each category were awarded a merit certificate and medal by the Headmistress, Dr. Sunita Gehani and Mr. Anand Seth.

Cleanliness and Display Board Competition (27.9.2017)

 

Cleanliness and Display Board Competition was organised by the Primary Department, PR Campus on 27.09.17. The display boards put up by different classes focused on activities under the aegis of JEP- Just in English Programme. The boards displayed innovative and interesting activities to enhance the speaking skills of the students. The classes were judged on parameters like cleanliness, creativity, presentation and content by the judges Ms. Amita Khanna and Ms. Anju Wadhera.

Joint Assembly - 'Gandhi Jayanti' (27.9.2017)

 

A special Joint Assembly to mark the occasion of 'Gandhi Jayanti' was organised by the Primary Department, Pusa Road Campus on 27.9.17.
The assembly programme was presented by the students of Classes II H and III G. It commenced with lighting of the lamp and floral tribute to the Father of the Nation. This was followed by a presentation by the students which gave a glimpse of Gandhi's life and highlighted his role in the freedom struggle. A group of students sang Gandhi Ji's favourite bhajan - 'Ragupati Raghav Raja Ram'.

The programme concluded with an enthralling musical presentation laced with patriotic fervour and zeal.

Judo and Skating Display (18.09.2017)

 

125 students of Class II and III participated in the Judo and Skating Display organised on 18.9.17. The participants were trained by the Judo Coach, Mr. Rana and Skating Instructor, Ms. Meenakshi respectively.
Judo Display 
The display began with some warm up and flexibility exercises, followed by demonstration of defensive and attacking Judo Techniques. Various blocking and striking manoeuvres were displayed by the students with vigour and energy. The performance concluded with a few meditation exercises performed to calm and relax the body after an energetic and zealous presentation.
Skating Display 
The display was an amalgamation of different skating skills and techniques presented by the students of Class II and III. It included different formations like circle formation, flower formation and bridge formation. ‘Artistic Skating’ was the highlight of the event and included ‘Zig-Zag Skating’, ‘Back Skating’ and ‘Skating while Sitting’. The event concluded with a display of ‘Lindy Skills’ in which four students sat down on the floor with their knees bent down to form an obstacle and six students passed over them while skating with their legs stretched out.

Intra Class Character Depiction Competition- Reflection (Class I) (14.09.17 – 15.09.17)

 

An intra-class Bal Sabha Activity, ‘Reflection’ ( Character Depiction ) was organised for the students of class I on 14.09.17 (I A – I D) and 15.09.17 (I E – I I). The theme for the costume fiesta was – Fairy Tales.

Children’s fantasy world was brought to life when the students dressed up in vibrant costumes depicted different characters like – Cinderella, Frozen, Pinocchio, Red Riding Hood etc.  Props and supporting accessories enhanced the presentation of the participants who confidently spoke and described their respective characters.

Kavi Pallav Class II- an Inter Class Hindi Poetry Recitation Competition (07.09.17)
 
Kavi Pallav - an Inter-Class Hindi Poetry Recitation Competition was organised for the students of class II on 07.09.2017. Two students from each section represented their respective classes and recited poems on the theme- Desh Bhakti. All participants performed enthusiastically and exhibited confidence while reciting poems laced with patriotic fervour and zeal depicting love for the motherland.
Participants were judged on the parameters like memory, voice modulation, expression, content and pronunciation by the judges, Ms Abha Kohli and Ms Arti Rana.

Teachers' Day Special Assembly (04.09.17)

 

To mark the 'Teachers' Day Celebration' in school, a special assembly was conducted by the Primary Department at Pusa Road Campus on 4.9.17. The assembly programme was presented by the students of Class II E and III D.
The assembly commenced with the lighting of the lamp and a floral tribute to Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan. The programme highlighted the importance of Teachers' Day Celebration in India and the story behind it's inception which dates back to the year 1962.
The students also recited Sanskrit Shlokas reflecting the importance and role of a ‘Guru’ since times immemorial. They also presented beautiful poems depicting various qualities of a teacher and expressed their gratitude towards them. Students who were dressed up as Chanakya , Guru Rabindranath Tagore and Dr. APJ .Kalam showcased the influence of a teacher in a child's life.

The programme concluded with an impressive Teacher Talk by Ms. Shivani who inspired the students to be thankful to their teachers for shaping up their lives and appreciate their selfless service and dedication towards the noble cause of education.

'MyTeacher Contest'- a nationwide 'Tata Class Edge' initiative to celebrate Teachers’ Day (01.09.17) 

 

'My Teacher Contest'- a nationwide 'Tata Class Edge' initiative to celebrate Teachers’ Day , was conducted at Bal Bharati Public School, Pusa Road Campus on 1 September 2017. The activity was a platform for the students for expressing their gratitude towards their teachers and pay a tribute to them.
The students of classes II and III actively participated in the creative writing activity wherein they expressed their views and feelings about their favourite teacher in 50- 75 words and used colours and other decorative material to decorate their sheets.
The activity received an overwhelming & creative response and was thoroughly enjoyed by all the students.

‘Tarang’ –Inter-House Devotional Song Competition

 

‘Tarang’ – an inter-house singing competition was organised on 31.08.2017 for Classes I, II and III in the school auditorium, GR campus. The theme for the competition was ‘Devotional Songs’.

The programme commenced with the lighting of ceremonial lamp followed by a prayer sung by the school choir. 140 students representing the eight houses of the school exhibited their singing skills while presenting different devotional songs. The students were prepared and guided by the Music Teacher, Ms. Chetna Arora along with the Tabla Instructor, Mr. Sanjay Pawar.  The melodious presentations in the praise the almighty resonated across the auditorium and left the audience spellbound.

The esteemed judges, Ms. Renu Dhingra ( Music Teacher, Cambridge Foundation School, Delhi.) and Mr. Suman Jha (Music Teacher, Middle Department, GR Campus )  judged the performances  on four parameters- sur, taal,  melody and  presentation. The finale of event was the mesmerising performance by the budding artists of our mini orchestra who played Ganesh Vandana.

Cleanliness Drive (30.08.17)

 

To sensitize the students towards the need for keeping our surroundings clean and thus contribute towards a clean and green planet, a cleanliness drive was organised at Bal Bharati Public School, GRH Marg (PR campus) on 30.08.2017.

To initiate the drive, the students and teachers together took a pledge and promised to keep the school, home and city clean by doing their bit. They promised that they would neither litter nor would let anyone litter around. The students of classes I, II and III along with all the staff members actively took part in the drive and cleaned the classrooms and the corridors. The students were also apprised of the importance of ‘Dignity of Labour’.

National Sports Day (29.08.2017)

 

'National Sports Day' , which marks the birth anniversary of the hockey legend , Major Dhyan Chand , was celebrated at Pusa Road Campus on 29 August, 2017.

The students were enlightened about the importance of the day. Different activities like 'Tag Game' , 'Basketball'  and 'Throw the Kait' were planned for the students of Class I,II & III  respectively. They were made to play the mentioned games in the periods  scheduled as per the time table.The students enthusiastically participated and enjoyed all the activities.

Intra- Class Hindi Recitation Competition -'Kavi Pallav' (17.08.17) (Class I)

 

‘Kavi Pallav’ - an Intra class Hindi Poetry Recitation Competition was organised for Class I on 17 August , 2017.
The students enthusiastically participated and confidently recited poems on varied themes , ranging from Patriotic to humorous. They were judged on various parameters like memory, voice modulation, expression, content & pronunciation.

Inter- Class Hindi Recitation Competition -'Kavi Pallav' (10.08.17) (Class III)

The theme for the competition was 'Hasya Kavita'. Two students from each section were selected to represent their respective classes. All the participants performed with a lot of enthusiasm and exhibited confidence while reciting rib-tickling humorous poems on different topics. They were judged on various parameters like memory, voice modulation, expression, content & pronunciation by the judges, Ms. Sadhana Hira and Ms. Shikha Kapur.

Inter House Activity – 'Hit the Target'

(Class II) (27.07.17)

Target comprising three concentric rectangles was made on the wall. Inner rectangle, middle rectangle and outer rectangle had 3, 2 and 1 points respectively.The team scoring maximum points was declared winner.Through this activity students strengthened their co-ordination between eyes and hand.
