Activity : Rajasthan
The club Explore Thy Country gives an opportunity to the students to explore and connect with one state of India every month. The students embarked on the enlightening journey to ‘Land of Kings’, Rajasthan on 17 February 2022. They explored the rich cultural state, Rajasthan which is also known as ‘Home of Rajas’. They learnt some important facts about Rajasthan - climate, food, festivals celebrated, dances and places of tourist interest through a beautiful & self-explanatory video. They virtually travelled to the famous tourist places of Rajasthan like Hawa Mahal, Nahargarh Fort, Amber Fort to name a few. In the follow-up craft activity the children learnt to make decorative camel and traditional wall hangings.
Activity : Explore The State of Mizoram
With an aim to celebrate the uniqueness of different states of India, an activity was conducted on 20 January 2022. Children got the opportunity to learn about the state of Mizoram and they explored the culture, history, heritage, celebrations etc. through a self-explanatory guided module. Children were ecstatic to virtually witness the serene beauty of the state through the video uploaded on Connected Classrooms. They designed a beautiful traditional Mizo headgear as a follow-up activity.
Activity : Gateway of India, Maharashtra
Under the aegis of the club activity conducted on 18 November 2021, our young explorers visited God’s own country – Kerala virtually. The students attained knowledge about the location, capital, food, dance, art, culture, tourism, famous personalities of the state through a self-explanatory guided module. Children were mesmerised by the beauty of Kovalam beach, Eravikulam National Park, Cherai Beach, Athirappilly Water Falls and backwaters in Kerala. The students also mastered the skills of making beautiful toran and rangoli made at the entrance of the house on auspicious occasions and Onam- the state harvest festival to welcome the guests and deity. This activity helped children imbibe the virtue of ‘Atithi Devo bhava' – an integral part of Indian culture.
Activity : Explore The State of Goa
Our young explorers had the opportunity to know about the culture, history, heritage, wildlife, celebrations and much more about the vibrant state of Goa under the aegis of the club activity conducted on 21 October 2021. The students experienced the scenic beauty of Goa beaches, enjoyed the colourful carnival festivities, relished the traditional Goan delicacies, visited the heritage monuments and basked in the glory of the rich culture of the state, though virtually. Children prepared beautiful paintings of Lord Ganesha with cashew nuts, the state fruit of Goa and crafted picturesque wildlife scenes with fallen leaves and pebbles. The activity truly highlighted the concept of unity in diversity in India and instilled a feeling of brotherhood and respect for others.
Activity : Gateway of India, Maharashtra
Our little explorers visited the third-largest state by area and second most populated state in India –Maharashtra under the aegis of the club activity conducted on 23 September 2021. The students attained knowledge about the location, capital, food, dance, art, culture, places of interest and famous personalities of the state through a guided tutorial shared with them. They also visited Ajanta and Ellora caves, Gateway of India virtually, and learnt about brave Maratha warrior Shivaji. To give them insight into Marathi culture, children were encouraged to dress up in Marathi costumes and were also taught about the tribal art form- Worli art which originated in the state. The videos, pictures shared by students truly reflected their enthusiasm, love for the state and understanding of the cultural diversity in India.
Activity: Explore the radiant Punjab
Under the aegis of the club, children got an opportunity to know, learn and understand the northern state of India-Punjab. Through a guided module shared on the Connected Classrooms portal, children explored the culture, heritage and legacy of Punjab. To experience the real essence of Punjab, children were encouraged to adorn the traditional Punjabi costume, visit a Gurudwara, relish traditional cuisine (Lassi, parantha) and enjoy Bhangra on the beats of a dhol. They participated enthusiastically and enjoyed experiencing the vibrant state.
Activity: The Heart of India – Madhya Pradesh
Students were apprised of the location, capital, food, dance, art, culture, places of tourist interest and interesting facts about the state of Madhya Pradesh - The heart of India through a video module. They learnt the native art- Gond art painting and did hands-on work and created some masterpieces using the same. The students were overjoyed to adorn the traditional costume of the state and got a glimpse of the rich cultural heritage of India. The pictures shared by students truly captured their enthusiasm & joy while doing the activity.
Activity- Explore the West Bengal
The club helps the children appreciate the uniqueness of different Indian States. In the activity held on 22.4.21, they got the opportunity to explore the state of West Bengal. Through the video posted on Connected Classrooms and the follow-up activities, they came to know about legendary people such as Subhash Chandra Bose, language, dresses, festivals, rich flora & fauna, dances and rich cuisine of the State.
In the hands-on activity, the children made a portrait of Subhash Chandra Bose and Netaji’s Cap using the paper folding technique.
