EDU FIESTA

EDU FIESTA, an Activity Camp was organised from March 21 – March 24, 2022, in the school premises after the culmination of the Fourth Cycle Assessment.  We know learning is a spontaneous process that happens throughout our lives. Learning without an element of fun becomes monotonous and uninspiring. To incorporate fun into learning, give hands on experience and take it beyond the realms of books a plethora of enriching, engaging and enjoyable activities in varied domains were conducted.

READATHON- 100 Days Reading Campaign

Reading is the foundation of learning which motivates students to read books independently,

develops creativity, critical thinking, vocabulary, and the ability to express both verbally and in writing. It is the first step towards developing command over language and requires continuous practice, development, and refinement.

To inculcate the Reading habit and create a joyful learning experience for our learners the Ministry of Education, government of India has launched a 100-day nationwide Reading Campaign from January 1 to April 22. Students from Classes IV and V are invited to participate in this reading challenge starting from 1st January 2022 for a total of 14 weeks.

As a part of the initiative a plethora of engaging multidisciplinary activities related to reading were conducted as listed below:

  'Bend the End' 'Dress and Tell', 'Set the Scene', ‘Folklore Fun’, ‘Speak Up’, 'Reading Poetry’, ‘Meri Kahani Meri Zubani’, ‘Nani Dadi Ki Kahaniyaan’ and ‘Judge a Book by its Cover’.

BLENDED LEARNING 

AN AMALGAM OF LEARNING, LITERACY, AND LIFE SKILLS

Facilitating Collaborative Learning, Enhancing Research and Problem-Solving Skills, Personal Expression, Innovation and Imagination.

Cross curricular teaching is the essence of collaboration for students’ learning – a fundamental way to teach concepts in the context of multiple subjects at once. For students of Classes IV and V, projects, activities and curriculum transactions were ideated upon with a focus on creating such cross curricular linkages to help students develop multiple perspectives and values.

 

INTRA CLASS E- POSTER COMPETITION

 Striding ahead in our journey of nurturing talent, we organized the much awaited Intra Class Activity, the E- Poster Competition for classes IV and V from 18 November to 2 December on the Theme Health and Fitness. This invigorating, refreshing activity aimed at providing students a forum to hone their ICT skills and venture into the world of sports. Students participated with a lot of positivity and enthusiasm.

 

JOYFUL LEARNING

In accordance with NEP 2020, the Primary Department made a conscious effort to incorporate toys, puzzles and games as a part of play-based learning into the curriculum. Students were involved in a plethora of activities that went far beyond the textbook.

The inclusion of games, toys, and puzzles along with embracing a play-based curriculum had brought positive results.

Hindi : Toy Bird Construction

  • Hindi poetry recitation was enhanced as students made toy birds out of eco-friendly materials. They used the birds as props to fortify their recitation on the theme – “जी होता चिड़िया बन जाऊँ

General Science :Doll Attire

  • Students crafted dresses for toy dolls and learnt about different types of fibers.

General Science : Role Play

  • Students dressed up as various animals and birds and engaged in a discussion session.

Social Science​ :Play with Clay​ 

  • Students made interesting clay models of different food and cash crops in sync with their chapter on agriculture.

Social Science :Toys to Connect​ 

  • Students constructed toy sized models of various modes of transportation and communication

Social Science :Crafty Resources​ 

  • Students made models/craft projects on exhaustible and inexhaustible natural resources, to enrich their understanding of the topic.

Social Science :Role-Play

• To make the discussion on our rights and duties as citizens of India more engaging, students dress ed up as current and former Prime Ministers and Presidents of India

Social Science :Crossword Puzzle 

  • As a great source of boosting critical thinking, crossword puzzles were created by students based on the four fundamental mathematical operations.

INTRA CLASS MUSIC COMPETITION- JEET KI LAGAN SANGEET KE SANG

The Intra Class Music Competition- Jeet Ki Lagan Sangeet Ke Sang was organised from 7 October to 21 October 2021 on theTheme Health and Fitness. The activity aimed at affording our budding singers s a platform to explore, enjoy and enhance their musical skills and inculcate love for this art form which comprises melodious, rhythmic and harmonious elements.

INTERNATIONAL DAY OF OLDER PERSONS

A special assembly programme on International Day of Older Persons, celebrated annually on October 1, was presented to spread awareness about the importance of senior citizens in our society and to appreciate their contribution. The program included a heart touching poem on the affectionate relationship between grandparents and grandchildren as well as an expressive dance performance.

WORLD OZONE DAY 2021

To mark World Ozone Day celebrated annually on 16 September, young Bal Bharatians had an educative and fun-filled session on 28.09.2021. With an aim to spread awareness about the depletion of the Ozone Layer and search for possible solutions to preserve it, a Virtual talk and Quiz session was organized in association with "Tiger Trust”. Ms Falgooni Mehta, a former lawyer, passionate environmentalist and nature lover was the guest speaker of the day. She introduced students to why our Earth’s ozone layer is depleting and the benefits of the Ozone Layer through an interesting presentation and video. The enriching and thought-provoking program concluded with an interactive Quiz session

INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PEACE

A Special Virtual Morning Assembly was organized by students to commemorate the International Day of Peace observed globally on 21 September every year. The program included an enlightening talk on the significance of the day, narration of stories, thought provoking poems and melodious, soulful renditions by students that sensitized children towards the values of peace and harmony for creating a bright, happy and sustainable future for us all. Students paid a heart-warming tribute to the greatest icons of peace – Mahatma Gandhi, Mother Teresa, Nelson Mandela and John Lennon who have left behind a legacy of peace and justice. Students performed a captivating dance to express the feelings of a Squab, a dove fledgling as it learns how to fly and survive peacefully in this world. The program concluded with a pledge by all students to raise awareness about peace.

 

CELEBRATING NATIONAL/INTERNATIONAL DAYS

National Grandparents Day

Making the Day Special for Our Grandparents.” An activity was organized for the students of Class IV and V to mark the occasion of National Grandparents Day that is being celebrated on 12th September every year. The objective of the activity was to encourage students to express their love, affection, and care for their grandparents and to celebrate the bond across the generations. Students expressed their gratitude towards the grandparents through different gestures like preparing a thank you card, cooking a snack of their choice, buying a small gift for their grandparents.

AZADI KA AMRIT MAHOTSAV

SINGING OF RASHTRIYA GAAN

Under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav an initiative to commemorate 75th Anniversary of India’s independence, students, teachers, parents took part in singing of Rashtriya Gaan and posting it on specially designed website.

POSTER MAKING COMPETITION

Students were encouraged to make posters on freedom fighters by drawing/painting pictures of the freedom fighters and writing a suitable slogan.

PARAGRAPH WRITING ABOUT PLACES RELATED TO FREEDOM STRUGGLE

Students were briefed about the freedom struggle of India by the teachers in the live classes and were encouraged to find out the places where important events during the freedom struggle took place.

They were then asked to write about the importance/ significance of the place.

STORY TELLING BY GRANDPARENTS ABOUT FREEDOM STRUGGLE EVENTS.

Students were motivated to ask their grandparents to narrate events/stories related to freedom struggle of India.

The objective behind this activity was to make students aware about the hardships that people faced during the independent movement.

It also helped generate respect for our freedom and independence today that came at the cost of sacrifices made by freedom fighters and common people.

RASHTRIYA POSHAN MAAH

Poshan 2.O Quiz on My Government Portal was shared with students. 

During the Physical Education class, the teacher delivered a talk, accompanied by a presentation, to make students aware about nutrition, balanced diet, harms of junk food and healthy eating practices.

The students were asked to offer a nutritious meal to the under privileged children of the society.

 

INTRA CLASS DANCE COMPETITION

Colours of Dance- Way to Fitness.

Dance is a skill by which we stay fit and by dance, different movements, exercises are possible. We organised our much awaited Intra Class Dance Competition- Colours Of Dance- Way to Fitness with a lot of gusto. The invigorating activity aimed at giving our talented students a platform to explore their dance skills and inculcate love for this aesthetic art form. Students choose from popular dance forms like semi classical, folk, contemporary or fusion dance and explore their dancing prowess.

Intra Class skipping competition was organised for students of class V.

INTRA CLASS JUNIOR TED TALK COMPETITION

While learning does require diligence and consistent efforts, learning without an element of fun

becomes monotonous, uninspiring and repetitive. Cruising ahead with adventure of Intra Class

Competitions, we organised most anticipated Intra Class Event, the Intra Class Junior Ted Talk

Competition from of 5 August to 19 August on the theme All Work and No Play Makes Jack a Dull Boy for Class V. This invigorating, refreshing activity provided forum to students to compete and acquire the finer nuances of effective communication combining technology, entertainment and design all rolled into one.

SUMMER CAMP

In an endeavor to keep learners meaningfully engaged and provide them an opportunity to experience learning by doing, we organized  a  myriad  of  activities during these difficult times as part of the Virtual Summer Camp. The activities aimed at inculcating the very essential 21st century learning skills namely Problem- Solving, Critical Thinking, Logical Reasoning, Creativity, Effective Communication, Collaboration and Digital Literacy. Some of the highlights of the programme were Virtual Trips to Red Fort , San Diego Zoo, The Red Planet – Mars, and Deep Oceans.

Intra Class Poster Making Competition

We organized our first Intra Class Activity, the Intra Class Poster Making Competition on the theme ‘Health and Fitness.’ More than 170 students of Class IV and Class V participated in this competition. Our blooming artists gave wings to their imagination and used their artistic, aesthetic and creative skills to paint different facets of health.

 

Intra Class Hindi Declamation Competition

The much awaited Intra Class Hindi Declamation Competition was organized for the students on the theme-- ‘स्वास््य ही धन है’ on 5 July. The students spoke on the given topic for 2– 3 minutes giving insights into various facets of health, describing benefits of good health and

suggesting ways of keeping ourselves fit and healthy. The activity afforded students an

opportunity to enhance their creativity and speaking skills. They spoke confidently, putting forth their views with great conviction and expression.

READING MONTH CELEBRATIONS

Honoring the Father of the Library Movement , the late P.N. Panicker, the department celebrated Reading Month from 19 June 2021 to 18 July 2021. A plethora of activities were conducted to inculcate in learners a love for reading and develop their interest in literary pursuit.

RANG UTSAV

Firmly believing that every child is an artist, Primary Department, G R Campus organised its second Virtual Art Exhibition-RANG UTSAV. This magnificent ensemble of creative hues showcased artistic creations of students of Classes IV and V from within the confines of their homes.

The Art work by our budding artists covered varied indigenous art forms like Madhubani, Cubism Painting, Warli Art, and students’ expression depicting splendid colours of nature in its diversity.

PARENTS OUTREACH

Ushering in the New Session

The new academic session begun with lots of hopes and aspirations. As the students have been promoted from class III to IV, a transition has taken place. Every transition brings uncertainties, questions, queries and these need to be addressed appropriately. 

In view of the above, on 7 April 2021 an online Interactive Session was conducted by teachers and Chief Coordinator of Primary Department-GR Campus with parents of the students inducted recently in Class 4. The session was conducted through the platform of Microsoft Teams.  

The Interaction was rich and productive and afforded a platform for parents and teachers to interact face to face albeit virtually addressing many concerns related to the teaching learning program as well as specific subject related aspects.  

Parents were appreciative of the efforts and approach and discussed in detail the subject content for First Term and the Project Work. Their queries regarding submission of project work, worksheets, assignments and assessment were answered with patience to give them clarity and make them feel comfortable in the new set up and session. The parents were also reassured that simple, engaging and enriching tasks would be taken up to enhance writing practice and skills of students. It was heartening to see the enthusiasm of parents and grandparents in guiding their children and discussing the various subject related activities.  

Parents were advised to encourage their wards to converse in English and do the vocabulary activity shared every Monday. 

The session was engaging and beneficial for a smooth transaction of subject content in the new session.
