Aao Haath Barhayein Club Session 2020-2021

Interactive Session with the children of the NGO – Gali Pathshala

To foster a feeling of love and compassion in our children an activity on ‘Interactive Session with children of NGO – Gali Pathshala’ was conducted on 23.01.21 on MS Teams. The theme of the interaction was ‘Republic Day’. Our students and the students from the NGO gave a musical and dance presentation showcasing the theme. A video on Republic Day was shown to the students and a quiz session based on the same was conducted. Taking inspiration from the soldiers standing tall to protect our country at the borders, the children took a pledge to give up any one negative habit and promised to serve the motherland by being good citizens.  The session concluded with the thanksgiving speech by the in charge of NGO- Gali Pathshala, Ms. Kavita followed by the vote of thanks proposed by our Headmistress, Dr. Sunita Gehani.

The interaction provided the children of both the institutions a platform to learn and gain a real-life experience which will help them become a responsible citizen of tomorrow.

  

Guarding Angels- Thank You card for our Soldiers 

Soldiers are the pride of our country and their role as the guardians defending & protecting the borders is unparalleled. With an aim  to express gratitude towards them  , an activity was conducted on 24.12.20 in which the students made a thank you card or e-card. They also wrote a letter thanking them for their bravery, patriotism & dedication and recorded a video to convey wishes for their well- being.  

  

Hygiene Awareness

Instilling healthy habits from a young age is important to ensure that our children remain safe and healthy. Maintaining good personal hygiene is the first step to good health. With this motive in mind, an activity on ‘Hygiene Awareness’ was conducted on 26.11.20. Students were asked to do the following activities to keep themselves healthy and safe:

  •      Make a poster on personal hygiene or environmental hygiene.
  •      Make a video on how to wash hands properly.
  •      Make a personal hygiene kit.

In addition to this, they were asked to distribute the kits and share the posters and videos with people in the neighbourhood to spread awareness. 

Importance of Grandparents 

What a good fortune it is to grow up in a home where there are grandparents. We must value our grandparents and respect them. To teach children the need to show gratitude towards their grandparents, an activity -‘Importance of Grandparents’ was conducted on 29.10.20. 

Students were asked to do some simple activities with their grandparents and spend quality time with them. They shared some very delightful pictures and videos with their class teachers.

Lend a Helping Hand During COVID-19

In this hour of distress, it is our social responsibility to help the needy, poor and underprivileged.

To sensitise the children an activity ‘Lend a Helping Hand During COVID-19’ was conducted under the aegis of the Club on 24.9.20. A video highlighting the need to show compassion and love towards the needy was posted on the Connected Classrooms portal. 

The students were advised to do the following activities to contribute towards the cause-

  • Volunteer to make and deliver homemade food such as sandwich, bhelpuri and lemonade etc. (recipes for the same were shared with students)
  • Donate face masks, hand sanitizers, soaps etc.
  • Donate gently used or new books (schoolbooks, story books, colouring books etc.)
  • Donate gently used clothes.

The students participated enthusiastically and donated generously.

Reverence and Care- Thanking our Healthcare Workers 

To show gratitude towards the medical community including doctors, nurses, and support staff, the unsung heroes during the Covid-19 pandemic and salute their undying spirit of hard work and sacrifice, the club activity – ‘Reverence and Care- Thanking our Healthcare Workers’ was conducted on 27.8.20. The students were sensitised about the role of these Corona Warriors through a presentation and were asked to draw and design ‘thank you’ cards, e-cards and posters for our Healthcare Workers. The activity was aimed at evolving our students into responsible human beings and better citizens.

Be Kind Towards Animals 

As the superior species, we are gifted with the capability to think and reason. It is our moral responsibility to care for creatures less proficient than ourselves and act as their guardians.

Keeping this motive in mind and to sensitize the children to be compassionate towards the animals the Virtual Club Activity ‘Be Kind Towards Animals’ was organised on 30.7.20. Students were suggested simple activities through which they can easily express their love and kindness towards animals. The activity received much appreciation from parents as well as students. They shared their feedback, videos and pictures depicting how they are showing their concern towards animals. 

Save Water Save Earth, A collaborative activity with NGO, Ek Boond

Due to the lockdown, the workshop to sensitise the students about the need to save and conserve water could not be organised, thus a video message by Ms. Kanika Gupta (Ek Boond) was attached.

The Activity Video highlighted facts facing the problem of depletion in freshwater levels and the students were suggested simple ways which they can adopt in their daily routine to save water. The activity received much appreciation from parents as well as students. They shared their feedback, videos and pictures depicting initiatives to save water.
