CODE OF CONDUCT FOR TEACHERS

We have a lot of heroes today -sportsmen ,super models ,media personalities , ministers, They come into limelight, they have their fifteen minutes of fame and they go and are forgotten but the influence of good teachers always stays with us. They are the ones who shape the lives of millions .As such, every teacher at Bal Bharati must:
- Always be punctual (adhere to the time schedules for each and every activity of the School).
- Perform all the duties assigned religiously & effectively.
- Properly plan and organize his/her affairs.
- Keep themselves abreast with the latest in their field and not simply rest on the past.
- Display exemplary behaviour. Be firm and polite in dealing with parents and students.
- Follow prescribed dress code.
- Adopt positive approach and maintain cordial relations with colleagues.
- Seek prior permission to avail leave.
- Ensure that the prefects and monitors should be effectively used to maintain the tone of discipline in the School.
- Teach all relevant subjects in English. Under no circumstances should he/she use Hindi as a tool to explain a topic or a concept. Students should be encouraged to speak in English
- Plan the monthly, weekly and daily syllabus in accordance with the curriculum.
Ensure that the weekly plan is strictly adhered to and no portion of the syllabus is uncovered. - All assignments should be thoroughly checked and teachers should ensure that not even a single error is over looked.
- If the syllabus planned for a particular week is not completed, the Departmental head should be informed about the reason and the plan for completion of the same.
- Refrain herself from undertaking private tuitions or indulging into any other business activity.
- Refrain from indulging in or advocating any form of malpractices.
- Not organize or attend any meeting during School hours except with prior permission of the head of the institution.
- Refrain from inflicting any kind of Corporal and Psychological punishment on the student.
- Not make the students do his/her personal work.
CODE OF CONDUCT FOR STUDENTS
Students have a right to feel safe in the school, learn in a challenging environment to the best of their ability, be treated with respect by other students and teachers and be listened to. However, they must also adhere to the following code of conduct:
Respect for the Institution
- Keep the buildings, classrooms, corridors, and grounds clean in good condition. Spend five minutes prior to beginning of every class cleaning your surroundings.
- Students are expected to treat school property with care and respect. This includes school playfields, lawns, buildings, equipment, books, transportation vehicles and possession of others. Don’t cause destruction, defacement, or damage to school properties. Graffiti on walls, doors or furniture is strictly prohibited.
- Carefully handle the equipment, fixtures, and appliances of the labs. Careless handling/misuse of the above could result in personal injuries or damage to property. In the event of damage of property, the responsible students will have to bear the cost of replacement/repair with fine.
- No student shall enter or leave the classroom when the session is on without the permission of the teacher concerned. The students are not permitted to leave school campus during school hours without prior parental and administrative permission.
- Share information with school officials regarding matters which may endanger the safety/health or welfare of the school community.
- Care must be taken to observe the "green rules" to maintain clean, green surroundings. That is, school premises will not be littered with disposable tumblers, papers, or polythene bags.
- Students are expected to conserve water and electricity.
Respect for Learning
- Be punctual and regular in attendance and make efforts to maximize achievements in all areas of Education.
- Enter or leave the class with prior permission.
- Take progressive responsibility and ownership for your own learning. Complete tasks as allotted.
- Complete class work and homework assignments on time.
- Keep library books in good condition.
- Assemblies are planned and scheduled for educational and informational purposes throughout the school year. Students must adhere to guidelines as mentioned:
- Stand to the assembly in an orderly manner.
- Be respectful to guests and speakers.
- Upon dismissal, leave the assembly in an orderly manner.
- Inform parents of educational progress and to ensure that all school communication is effectively delivered.
- Show respect to teachers & elders & consideration for peers.
- Seek clarification or guidance in a polite manner. There should be no rowdyism or shouting.
- Do not use unfair means during assessments/examinations.
Respect for Self
- Dress neatly and properly as per schools’ norms.
- Highlighting and dyeing of hair, permanent tattoos, jewelry items, fancy nails, eye or face makeup, fancy shoes are not allowed.
- Carrying mobile phones, Smart watches, iPods, electronic equipment, valuable articles and cash more than Rs. 500/- to school is prohibited.
Respect for Others
- Be tolerant and respectful of diversity.
- Behave in a manner which does not endanger the health and safety of self or others.
- Behave with courtesy and consideration for others. Students must refrain from all forms of bullying, violence, verbal intimidation and harassment.
- Students must strive to resolve all conflicts by peaceful means.
- Demonstrate respectful behavior in classroom. Refrain from behavior which would disrupt classroom instruction.
- Do not instigate other co-students or juniors to indulge in any misbehavior or any form of anti-school activity which will bring disrepute to the school and could spoil the career of the concerned student.
- While using Internet based technology the following guidelines need to be adhered to:
- Privacy – Users shall not intentionally seek information on or obtain copies of data or files belonging to another person unless authorized by that person.
- Passwords – Users shall not seek passwords or use passwords belonging to another person unless authorized and users shall take precautions to secure access of their personal password from others.
- Security: Users shall not attempt to infiltrate a computing system or network or alter the software components of a computing system or network or import files, which will jeopardize the security of the computing system or the network; and users shall not load software on computers without permission of a Computer Teacher.
- Unauthorized use of Wi-Fi to download any videos/documents is not allowed.
- Uploading any objectionable material on social media or circulating such material through mobile networks is a serious offence.
The following, if observed, shall be liable for strict disciplinary action and may lead to expulsion from school.
- Substance Abuse/Possession or smoking/Physical abuse
- Truancy
- Display of aggression and violence
- Bullying, use of foul language, vulgar behavior, and eve teasing
- Driving any two-wheeler/ four-wheeler to school
- Any form of gambling
- Association with banned organizations
- Possession of any weapon or use of any implement as weapon causing injury to a person or damage to property.
- Deliberate damage to school property or infrastructure.
- Theft/Pilferage of Schools’/Students’ property.
Specific case of indiscipline
- Long absence without intimation
- If a student remains absent for more than a week without informing the school, attention of the parents would be drawn to it in writing, asking the reason for absence.
- Name to be struck off
If a student remains absent without good reason for more than a month, his name shall be struck off the rolls after giving due notice. Re-admission may be considered by the Principal.
- Using unfair means
In case cheating is noticed, the Answer sheet(s) shall be cancelled. Fresh answer book will be given. Parents would be notified about the incident and action taken.
For repetition of cheating, more drastic action shall be considered.
Dealing with serious acts of indiscipline
Set out below are a few illustrative, not exhaustive, guidelines for possible action by the HM/VP/Principal. Obviously, the aim of the school is always reformative and not punitive.

*Expulsion is applicable only to students of Class IX and above. Under the Rights to Education Act no student can be expelled till the age of 14 or till Class VIII.
- No corporal punishment may be administered under any circumstances.
CODE OF CONDUCT FOR PARENTS
- Ensure that the diary is carried by your ward to the school every day. Check the diary every day for any entries from the school. Also use the diary for communicating with the school.
- Ensure that your ward has breakfast and arrange for your ward to reach the school on time, at least 5 minutes before the school begins.
- Strict adherence to prescribed uniform, cleanliness and personal hygiene is to be ensured.
- Always write your ward’s name, admission no. and class at the back of any cheque (sent to the school).
- All requirements of leave should be applied for in advance, except in case of emergency. You are requested to fill up the Leave Application page given in the diary.
There is no provision of half-day leave for students. - In case of emergency, students will be allowed half-day leave, escorted by the parent after sanction from VP/HM.
- Parents may please ensure that students do not bring mobile phones or any other electronic device to school.
- Please check the school website regularly for notifications and updates.
Intimate the school regarding any change in your address and telephone number(s). These are vital in the interest of the safety of the students. - Students suffering from contagious diseases should not be sent to school, till the mandatory period of quarantine is over.
- Monitor your ward’s progress and feel free to meet the concerned teacher by taking prior appointment.
- Parents should ensure that they spend sufficient time daily with their wards to ensure a good level of understanding.
- Parent-Teacher Meetings should be utilized as a platform to interact with the teacher, keeping in view the progress of the child.
- Please do not send gifts, sweets, biscuits or other eatables to be distributed among children on your ward’s birthday. Celebration of any kind is strictly prohibited.
Please refrain from directly visiting the classrooms at any time. The school office may be contacted, if there is a requirement to do so. - In case of undeclared holidays such as Id, Muharram etc. parents will be informed by SMS on father’s mobile number.
- Parents should be formally dressed up while visiting the school. Track Pants, Shorts, nightwear, slippers etc. should be avoided.
- The school reserves the right to take disciplinary action against students whose conduct is harmful to other students.
