Chess Competition : 19.12.18 

 

Interclass Chess Competition for Classes  II & III was organised on 22.1.19 and 21.1.19 respectively. The game was played according to the SWISS SYSTEM (FIDE APPROVED).
49 students  from Class II and 65 students from Class III participated in the event. 5 rounds of 20 minutes each were played by all the participants who exhibiting skills like concentration and sportsmanship.

Story Telling Session : 19.12.18 

 

A Story Telling session in collaboration with Scholastic India Pvt. Ltd. was organised for the students of Class II on 19 December, 2018. Ms. Nitika Dutta Gupta, an eminent Freelance Writer and a Subject Matter Expert with Scholastic India conducted the session. The main motive of this session was to motivate the students to read books and enhance their listening skills.

 

Ms. Gupta narrated two stories- Silly Dilly and Rolly Polly Caterpillar with the help of puppets. The  students also posed as different characters of the story narrated to make the session interesting. Effective voice modulation, facial expressions and use of puppets made the session very engrossing. The session was thoroughly enjoyed by the students.

Yoga and Skating Display- 28.11.18 

Yoga Display
The students of Classes I , II and III regularly attend Yoga Classes which improve their flexibility, balance & posture , teaches them correct breathing techniques and help in weight management. Yoga Display was organised for the students on 28.11.18 wherein the participants displayed and showcased different Asanas & Yoga Postures and highlighted their benefits. These included the  Surya Namaskar, Paschimottan Aasan and Padam Mayur Aasan. This was followed by various poses like - Camel Pose, Head Stand, Child Pose and Wheel Pose. The Display concluded with a Pyramid formation which was applauded by all. The participants exhibited physical strength, flexibility and concentration during the Display.

Skating Display

A Skating Display was also held on 28.11.18 wherein then students of Class II & III displayed their skating skills &  techniques. The display included demonstration of various formations like Peacock, Camel, Zig-Zag Movement etc. The participants showcased their balance and physical strength while Sitting and Crossing under the Hurdles  & Jumping over the Cones. Their performance was applauded by all.

Earthquake Mock Drill -28.11.18 

 

An Earthquake Mock Drill was conducted on 28.11.18 in order to sensitise  the staff and students on how to respond and react in the event of an earthquake. The drill was a part of the Awareness and Preparedness Plan of the school.
A comprehensive evacuation plan was made prior to the drill and the staff members and students were apprised of the various evacuation routes and exits to be used in the event of an emergency evacuation.
The drill was efficiently executed and the building was evacuated safely as per the plan.

Cleanliness Drive 16.11.18 

 

To sensitise the students towards the need for keeping our surroundings clean and thus contribute towards a clean and green planet, a cleanliness drive was organised for the students of Classes I,II and III on 16.11.18. Through Teacher Talk the students were enlightened about the need and importance of cleanliness in our lives. The importance of individual effort was also highlighted and the students were motivated to do their bit by keeping their school, home and city clean. They actively took part in the drive and organised their school bags and cleaned the classrooms and corridors. The activity was an enriching experience for the students through which they learnt about ‘Dignity of Labour’.

Table Tennis Tournaments

Intra Class  Table-Tennis Tournaments were  organised for the students of Class I , II and III on 25.10.18, 23.10.18 and 22.10.18 respectively. The tournaments were organised on knock-out and league basis. The students enthusiastically participated in the matches and showcased true sportsmanship.

Children’s Day Celebration -14.11.18 

The Primary Department, Pusa Road Campus celebrated Children’s Day which commemorates the birth anniversary of the first Prime Minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru on 14.11.18. The day which emphasises on the importance of giving love, attention and affection to children was made special for the students through a host of activities organised on the occasion.

They were given a glimpse of the  life of Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru, fondly called as Chacha Nehru through a video and PPT. This was followed by teacher talk which highlighted the importance and relevance of the day.

The highlight of the celebration was the movie screening specially organised to make the day exciting and fun-filled for the students. The movie , ‘The Secret Life of Pets’ was shown to the them. The animated movie is an engaging  story about the unique relationship not only between pets and their owners but also  between pets. The children enjoyed watching the movie and chuckled over the entertainment that the pets in the films offered.

The members of the Parent Teacher Association,  Ms. Shashi Ahuja and Ms. Nidhi Marwah distributed biscuits and Frooti to all the students on behalf of the Association.

The headmistress fondly greeted the students on the occasion and motivated them to work hard , fulfil  their dreams and thus contribute to the betterment and growth of the Nation and World as future citizens.

' ऐ मेरे वतन '- 5.10.18

 

To sensitize the students towards the role and the sacrifices made by Soldiers for our country, Bal Sabha Activity - ‘ ऐ मेरे वतन ‘ was organised on 5.10.18. The students of Class I wrote messages for the soldiers , students of Class II made beautiful cards with a special Thank-You message and the students of Class III wrote a letter expressing their gratitude towards the soldiers  for the selfless services.

ISA Activity -29.9.18 

 

The concluding ISA Activity for the  Session 2018-19 - Celebration of ‘The International Day for the Older Persons’,  was conducted on 29.9.18. The day which  is officially observed on October 1, every year across the world  is an opportunity to highlight the important contributions that older people make to the society.
Ms.Sunita Jain, grandmother of two students of our school graced the occasion as the  ‘Guest of Honour’. The occasion was also graced by Headmistresses Ms. Sunita Gehani and Ms Neelam Ahuja ; PTA Members - Ms. Shashi Ahuja & Ms. Nidhi Marwah and the grandparents of the participants. The event was aimed at celebrating the bond between our students and their grandparents and thus acknowledge the contribution and importance of the elderly in the society.
The programme began with a prayer followed by a melodious song sung by the school choir. Through the song specially composed by the Music Teacher , Ms. Chetna Arora , the students expressed their love for their grandparents. The highlight of the programme was the performances of the students along with their grandparents. It included a patriotic song, a dance performance and a story narration with hand puppets.
The Chief Guest, Ms. Jain in her address stressed on the need to keep the culture of our country alive and highlighted the importance of imparting moral values to our children. The Headmistress, Ms. Sunita Gehani while addressing the audience spoke about the importance  of grandparents in a child’s life and her fond experience of playing the role of a grandmother to all her students in school. She also proposed the Vote of Thanks and expressed her gratitude towards all the grandparents for gracing the occasion. The programme concluded with a recital of a self-composed motivational poem by the ISA Coordinator , Ms Rachna Chaudhary which was a salute to the spirit of grandparents and their selfless love and affection for their grandchildren.
An Exhibition was also set up on the occasion which displayed attractive cards, posters, photo frames and file folders made by the students. Through the exhibits the students depicted their love and affection for their grandparents.
The overwhelmed grandparents applauded the initiative of the school.  They expressed their heartfelt thanks to the institution for providing them an opportunity to contribute in their grandchildren’s growing and learning in school.

Swimming Competition 2018-19

 

Swimming Competition for Classes I and Class II & III was organised by the Primary Department, Pusa Road Campus on 27.9.18 and 28.9.18 respectively. The participants who had been rigorously practicing for the event displayed their swimming skills in various races. These included Kick Board Race, Freestyle Single Length and Relay Race for Class I and Freestyle Single Length, Freestyle Double Length, Backstroke and Relay Race for Classes II & III. The occasion was graced by Sports Director, Mr. Anand Seth who applauded the enthralling performance and sportsmanship of all the participants. Winners in each category were awarded a merit certificate and medal by the Headmistress, Dr. Sunita Gehani and Mr. Anand Seth.

Global Day of Action - 25.9.18 

Global Day of Action which  marks the third anniversary of the adoption of the UN Sustainable Development Goals was observed  by the Primary Department,  Pusa Road Campus on 25.9.18. The Day aims to bring together individuals in every corner of the world to take action for the SDGs. And thus contribute to end poverty and inequalities, protect the planet, and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity by 2030.

The following activities were organised on the occasion in collaboration with the NGO TRAX.
Bicycle Riding Competition 
The students of Class l participated in a Bicycle Riding Competition. Prior to the event the students visited the Traffic Training Park, Kharak Singh Marg where they were sensitised about the importance of traffic rules and apprised of different traffic rules and road signs.
The competition was held in the Traffic Training Arena set up in the school and the participants were judged on parameters - balance and control while riding the bicycle and knowledge and awareness of traffic rules.

Slogan Writing Competition
The students of Class II & Class lll participated in a Slogan Writing Competition. The topic for the same was - Road Safety or Clean Environment.
The students wrote thought provoking slogans and presented them creatively with pictures and drawings.

ISA Activity -18.9.18 

 

A Craft Activity was organised on 18.9.18 as a follow up to the Movie Screening organised under the aegis of ISA.
The students of Class I made cards for their grandparents with a special message depicting their love and affection for them. All the students were very excited and participated with zest and energy.
The students of Class II made beautiful posters and pictorially depicted the lovely moments spent with their grandparents.
The students of Class III made file folders and photo frames depicting the theme- ‘Importance of Grandparents in our Life’.
The environment in the classrooms was magical and inspiring. Students shared their views on how to respect elders along with their experiences with their grandparents. Songs like ‘Naani Teri Morni’ and Dadi Amma Maan Jao’ were sung in class. Through teacher talk the importance of the elderly people in the society  was highlighted.

Inter House Sports Activity - ‘Circuit Race’ :  17.09.18 

Inter- House Sports Activity -Circuit Race was organised for the students of Class-I on 17.9.18. Each house was represented by a team of twenty students. The teams had to complete a circuit comprising zig-zag path, ladders along with other hurdles. The first three teams completing the rally by crossing the circuit were declared winners. The activity was aimed at enhancing agility and physical strength in students. All the participants enjoyed the activity and participated with vigour and enthusiasm.

Excursion to Traffic Training Park - Class I  (12.09.18 & 13.09.18) 

 

An excursion to Delhi Traffic Training Park,  Baba Khadak Singh Marg, New Delhi was organised for the students of Class I on 12.9.18 and 13.9.18. The visit to Training Park, which aims to impart road safety education, provided  a joyous learning opportunity for the students. They were sensitised about the importance of safety rules and apprised of different traffic rules and road signs through fun-filled hands-on activities and live demonstrations.

The visit was a memorable experience which would motivate our future citizens to remain vigilant on road as a rider, driver and a pedestrian.

ISA Activity - Movie Screening (11.9.18) 

ISA activities planned for the students  each year are aimed at adding an international dimension to the school curriculum. The theme for the activities for the session 2018-19 is celebration of ‘The International Day of Older People’.
As an introductory activity screening of movie ‘Heidi’ depicting the bond between children and their grandparents was organised for the students of Classes I, II and III on
11.9.18 .The  Movie Screening was followed by an interactive session wherein the teachers and students shared their experiences and the importance and role  of the elderly people in the society was highlighted. The session was aimed at strengthening  the bond between the older and younger generation and making  the latter aware of the guidance that our elders can offer.

Sports Activity-Class III (10.9.18)

Inter House Sports Activity - Passing through the Arc was organised for the students of Class III on 10.9.18.

Each house was represented by a team of twenty students. The teams had to dribble the football through a series of arcs and complete the rally. The activity was aimed at enhancing skills like  agility, eye-foot coordination and accuracy in students. They participated with great enthusiasm and vigour. The first three teams completing the rally were declared as winners.

AdMad - Class II - 6.9.18 

 

An Inter Class Advertisement Enactment Competition was organised for the students of Class II on 6.9.18. The theme for the enactment was  ‘School’.

Five participants from each section of Class II showcased their creativity and enthusiastically presented interesting advertisements  highlighting the different aspects of their product - School. The participants were judged by Ms. Tanushi Gupta and Ms. Deepa Ahuja on parameters like the content, originality, confidence, expressions, voice modulation and use of props.

The enthralling performance of all the participants was applauded by all.

AdMad Class III - 30.8.18 

Inter Class Competition - AdMad , an Advertisement Enactment Competition was conducted for the students of Class III on 30.08.18. The theme for the same was ‘Social Cause’. The participants presented thought provoking advertisements on varied topics like Child Labour, Female Infanticide, Organ Donation,Swatch Bharat Abhiyan etc. and addressed some important social issues. They enhanced their presentation with attractive props and banners. Ms Renu Malhotra and Ms Juhi Grover adjudged the competition and declared the winners. Headmistress, Dr. Ms Sunita Gehani applauded the efforts of all the participants and congratulated the winners.

Excursion to National Science Centre 

An educational trip to National Sience Centre , Pragati Maidan, New Delhi was organised for the students on Class III on 16.8.18 and 31.08.18.

The aim of the excursion to the Science Centre which is popularly called as ‘A Dream Castle for One and All’ was to let the students explore and appreciate the beauty of Science.

It was a great learning experience for the inquisitive and curious students who learnt about various scientific principles and concepts like human evolution, human body, time, animals etc. through the different exhibits and hands-on activities at the Science Centre.

National Sports Day - 29.08.18

‘National Sports Day' , which marks the birth anniversary of the hockey legend , Major Dhyan Chand , was celebrated at Pusa Road Campus on 29 August, 2018.
The students were enlightened about the importance of the day. Different games and activities were planned for the students on the occasion. Kho-Kho matches were organised for the students of II & III. They were made to play the game after a brief introduction & demonstration of basic rules and method of playing the game. The students of Class I played the recreational ball game - Ice Cream Factory. They were divided into teams. Each team had to collect balls from one end and put them on the other end of the play field. The students enthusiastically participated in the games.

Inter House Sports Activity - ‘Jump and Score’ :  27.08.18 

Inter House Sports Activity - ‘Jump and Score’ was conducted for the students of Class II on 27.08.18.
The activity was aimed at developing agility and eye-foot coordination in students. Each house was represented by a team of twenty students. The teams had to jump over the hurdles and strike a goal. All the teams exhibited team spirit as they skilfully crossed the hurdles and kicked the ball into the goal. The teams which scored the maximum goals were declared as the winners.

Bal Sabha Activity- Verses ,Class I  (16.8.18)

Intra-Class, English Recitation Competition ,Verses was organised for the students of Class I on 16.8.18. The competition was open for all the students and the event witnessed mass participation from each section. The participants confidently recited poems on different themes  like Nature, My Teacher , Animals , Mother etc. with proper voice modulation and diction. They were judged on parameters like memory, content of the poem, presentation and expression.

Independence Day Celebrations

 

To mark the Independence Day celebration in school special assemblies were organised on 10.8.18, 8.8.18 and 13.8.18 for the students of classes II, I & III respectively.

Special screening sessions were also organised wherein the students were shown PPT, videos & modules on the freedom struggle of India and were apprised of the importance of the day.

The class I Assembly highlighted the role and contribution of our leaders in the freedom struggle through a colourful presentation by a group of students dressed up as different freedom fighters. A group dance presentation by the budding dancers on the song ‘Rang De Basanti’ was the main attraction of the presentation which invoked a feeling of patriotism in all present.

The  students of Class II created a mini Pre-Independence India through their vibrant presentation. They also performed on a medley of popular patriotic songs. A solo dance performance using props like fan, hula hoop etc was enjoyed and applauded by all.

The students of Class III enlightened all of the significance of the occasion. Dressed up as different freedom fighters and they recited slogans associated with them. The importance and significance of the three colours in the National Flag was also highlighted.

Through Teacher Talk the students were inspired to be responsible citizens. The Headmistress, Ms. Sunita Gehani also  addressed the students and greeted them on the occasion.

Bal Sabha Competition- TARANA

Classes I, II & III - 10.08.18

 

Inter- House Singing Competition- Tarana was organised for the students of Classes I, II and III on 10.08.18. The theme for the competition was Bal Geet.
140 students representing different houses performed and sang evergreen children’s song.
The melodious presentations enthralled the audience who cheered and sang along with the participants.
The judges, Mr Anil Mishra and Ms Deepshikha applauded the young budding singers and declared the winners.

Bal Sabha Competition- Verses 

Class II - 2.8.18

 

Inter-Class English Poem Recitation Competition - Verses,  was organised for the students of Class II on 2.8.18. The theme for the competition was Animals. Each section was represented by two students. All the participants exhibited confidence and recited poems reflecting their emotion & thoughts about the animal kingdom. They also highlighted the sad state of the animals who are on the verge  of extinction. The participants were judged by Ms. Seema Sharma and Ms. Rachna Chaudhary, on parameters like content, expression, voice modulation and memory.
Headmistress,Ms. Sunita Gehani congratulated the winners and appreciated the efforts of all the participants. She applauded the hard work and dedication of the students and their mentors.

Screening Session (Class I & III - 02.08.18)

 

 
As a part of Bal Sabha, a screening session was organised for the students of Classes I and III on 2.8.18. The theme chosen for the session was  Independence Day. The students were shown modules and animated stories related to freedom struggle of India  and contribution of great leaders like Mahatma Gandhi , Subhash Chandra Bose , Bhagat Singh  etc. in the freedom struggle was highlighted. Animated patriotic songs were also screened. The children sang  & clapped along and enjoyed the songs.
This was followed by an interactive session by the class teachers. The session was informative wherein the role and sacrifices of the freedom fighters was discussed and the students participated with enthusiasm.

Sports Activity - Tunnel Ball  (Class I -30.7.18)

 

An Inter-House Sports Activity -Tunnel  Ball was organised for the students of Class I on 30.7.18. In the activity which aimed at enhancing the neuromuscular coordination of the students each house was represented by a team of twenty. The students made a tunnel by stretching out their legs and passed the ball through it.The first three teams completing the rally were declared the winners. Each team exhibited coordination and team spirit and participated with great enthusiasm and vigour.

Inter-Class English Poem Recitation

 

Inter-Class English Poem Recitation - Verses was conducted for the students of Class III on 26.7.18. The theme for the competition was Nature. Each section was represented by two students. All the participants recited different poems and highlighted the various aspects & beauty of nature. The judges, Ms.Anuradha Nirula and Ms. Pushpinder Kaur judged  the students on parameters like - Expression, memory, content of the poem, pronunciation and presentation.
Headmistresses, Dr.Ms. Sunita Gehani while addressing the students applauded the efforts of all the participants and congratulated the winners.

Cleanliness Drive –  13.7.18

 

To sensitize the students towards the need for keeping our surroundings clean and thus contribute towards a clean and green planet, a cleanliness drive was organised by the Primary Department, Pusa Road Campus on 13.7.18.

To initiate the drive , a PPT and videos depicting the importance of cleanliness and waste segregation were shown to the students. This was followed by an interaction which highlighted the role of individual effort towards the broader goal of keeping our planet clean and green. The students were also counselled & guided to organise their school bag and keep it tidy. They along with all the staff members enthusiastically participated in thedrive and cleaned the classrooms, activity rooms, staff rooms, HM office along with the display boards & runners in the school premises.

The drive concluded with a Pledge Taking  Ceremony. The students and staff members pledged  to keep their school, home and city clean.

Global Week of Action 

The school in association with TRAX, the Road Safety NGO observed Global Week of Action from 21 May,  to 27 May, 2018. It is a week when global leaders take action on road traffic facilities & injuries and toxic air pollution. A host of activities was organised on the occasion. These included a Plantation Drive , Wall Painting, Declamation Competition and Drawing & Colouring Competition. The students, parents and staff members also signed a petition and  pledged  to  follow traffic rules & contribute towards prevention of air pollution in the city. All the participants were awarded the Certificates of Appreciation and the winners in each category were presented  trophies. The school was also awarded a trophy  by TRAX, for being a part of the Global Week of Action.

Inter-house Sports Activity-Circuit Race , was conducted for the students of Class II on 9.5.18. The participants passed through the circuit comprising obstacles like ladders, hurdles, zig-zag path etc. Each house was represented by a team of twenty students. The first three teams finishing the circuit were declared as winners. All the participants exhibited great physical strength and mind & body coordination and participated with enthusiasm & vigour.

Sports Activity- Jump and Basket 

Class-III- 26.4.18

Inter House Sport Activity - Jump and Basket was organised for the students of Class-III on 26.4.18. The recreational fun activity was an amalgamation of two games - basketball and trampoline. The student had to jump on the trampoline and score a basket. The activity was aimed at strengthening the eye-hand coordination in students.

The teams which scored  the maximum baskets  were declared winners.
