Bhasha Darpan

 

Vernacular Club activity - ‘Bhasha Darpan’ was conducted on 29 January, 2018. The activity gave the students yet another opportunity to explore the different regional languages of India.
The students learnt to write the word ‘Indian’ in different regional languages - Bangla, Gujarati, Sindhi, Assamese, Oriya, Tamil, Telugu and Punjabi.
They beautifully calligraphed it on colourfully decorated A4 sheets. The authentic cultural experience made the students aware and proud about the fact that they live in a country that speaks 26 official languages and 724 recorded dialects .

Bhasha Darpan

 

The Vernacular Club activity for the month of December - ‘Bhasha Darpan’ was conducted on 26.12.17. The aim of the activity was to  develop and create interest of the students in different regional languages and thus preserve India’s multiculturalism through multilingualism. The students were shown videos which apprised them of some basic phrases used in day to day communication in Assamese, Bangla, Tamil, Kannada, Marathi, Gujarati and Punjabi. It was an interactive session wherein students were made to practise the phrases they heard and read, along with the videos screened. The activity was a joyful and enriching experience for the students.

'Poems & Prayers'

 

Vernacular Club Activity was held on 26 December, 2017. Students from class IV & V participated in the activity. The students recited poems and prayers in their mother tongue:-

Malayalam, Kannad, Odiya, Assamese, Punjabi, Marathi and Bengali.

'Jeevan Mulya'

 

The Vernacular Club Activity for the month of November - 'Jeevan Mulya' was held on 30.11.17 wherein screening of moral stories in Sindhi, Gujarati, Bengali and Tamil with subtitles in English was organised for the students of Class III. The aim of the activity was to help the students appreciate the beauty of the regional languages of India.
The activity was concluded with a brief interaction on the moral of the story followed by a discussion on how different vernacular languages of India are closely linked. It was an enriching experience for the students.

'Bhasha Sangam'

 

Under the aegis of Vernacular Club (Bhasha Sangam) ,the Middle Department, GRH Campus organised ‘Sanskrit Geetotsav’ on 16.11.17 in the school Auditorium . The activity was a creative endeavour of the school to provide an opportunity to the students to learn and explore Sanskrit. Around 250 students from Primary, Middle, Secondary and Senior Secondary Department of the school participated in the activity. Mr. Parth Sarathi Thapaliyal, Programme Executive of All India Radio and Coordinator of Prime Minister's ‘Man Ki Baat’, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The Guest of Honour for the event was Mr. Pankaj Jha, a modern Sanskrit singer and Sanskrit Research Scholar at Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeeth. The parents of the participants were also invited to encourage and motivate the students. The participants presented hindi movie songs and patriotic songs in Sanskrit. All the presentations were enjoyed and appreciated by audience. The highlight of the programme was the melodious performance by the students of Class II and III, who presented the patriotic song ‘Sare Jahan Se Achcha’ in Sanskrit. The Chief Guest in his address applauded the school’s initiative to promote the vernacular languages of India and expressed his desire to record the song Sare Jahan Se Achcha presented by students of Class II & III at the All India Radio.

'Cultural Fiesta'

 

Vernacular Club Activity for the month of October - 'Cultural Fiesta ' was organised on 30 October, 2017. The activity gave the students yet another opportunity to explore the different regional languages of India. The students learnt songs in different regional languages and presented them in the morning assembly. The activity not only helped the students to learn & explore Indian vernacular languages but also appreciate the diverse culture of our country. The students presented songs or poems in Bihari, Bengali Tamil, Punjabi, Haryanvi, Gujarati, Sindhi, Sanskrit, Oriya and Assamese. This authentic cultural experience made the students aware and proud of the fact that they live in a country with 26 official languages and 724 recorded dialects.

'Rangmanch'

 

The Vernacular Club activity for the month of September-‘Rangmanch’ was organized on 26.09.17. The activity was aimed at providing an opportunity to the students to explore Indian Vernacular Languages. The students of Class III presented a ‘Punjabi Skit’ in a special assembly. Through the presentation the students, who were dressed up in traditional Punjabi costumes highlighted the need to avoid wastage of food. The names of various organizations where leftover food after events like marriages, birthday parties can be donated were also announced. The students enjoyed the presentation and promised to avoid wasting food.

'Exploring Regional Scripts'

 

The Vernacular Club Activity for the month of August - 'Exploring Regional Scripts' was organised on   28.8.17. The students learnt and practised to write their name in different vernacular languages of India and beautifully calligraphed it.  The languages chosen for the activity were Urdu, Marathi, Kannada, Bengali, Punjabi, Gujarati, Tamil and  Telugu. It was an enriching & joyful experience for the students and they enthusiastically participated in the activity.

Special Morning Assembly

 

The Vernacular Club Activity for the month of July was aimed at providing the students an opportunity to explore some of the regional languages of India.

A special assembly organised on 28.7.17 commenced with an introduction about the aim of the club. This was followed by a small presentation in which traditionally dressed up students representing the different states of India, enlightened all about how people greet in different Indian Languages. The Activity focussed on the following states and their languages- Punjab, Gujarat, Bihar, Maharashtra, Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan, West Bengal and Haryana.

 

 

Presentation (Languages Spoken in India)

      

The first Vernacular Club Activity for the session 2017-18 was conducted on 11.5.17. The students of class III were briefed about the club and its aim. They were shown a PPT and made familiar with the various languages spoken in different states of India. They also attempted a worksheet and answered questions related to the PPT. The activity was aimed at triggering the curiosity and interest of the students who would be engaged in several activities through the year which will give them an opportunity to explore the vernacular languages of India.
