The Dramatics Club of Bal Bharati Public School, GRH Marg organized the Annual Play, “Sukhiya Mar Gaya Bhookh Se” scripted by the eminent writer, Sh. Rajesh Kumar, on Saturday, 29 July 2017 in the school auditorium. The renowned theatre, film, television, radio and commercial artiste, Mr Kimti Anand graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The multifaceted theatre artiste, Mr Suman Vaidya, and the skilled Director and Designer, Mr Daulat Vaid, both closely associated with National School of Drama were the Guests of Honour for the day. Mr Kimti Anand was full of praises for the production and the acting skills of the students. He lauded the school’s endeavour in providing a befitting platform to students to showcase and hone their skills.

Realizing the potential of theatre in education, a socially relevant theme was chosen for the Annual Play. It helped to sensitize students to the grim realities in the life of a farmer who ironically produces crops to feed the entire country but dies out of hunger himself, largely because of the corruption prevalent in our system. The poignant portrayal of the plight of the farmer’s family after his death is lightened superficially by the asides by his own ghost that ‘comes alive,’ seeing the corrupt acts of the members of the village Panchayat. The performance of the 52 budding artistes of the school along with almost thirty other students who assisted in various capacities, successfully struck an emotional chord with all the spectators.

The distinguished gathering for this grand spectacle included Mr L R Channa, President Child Education Society and Chairman, Managing Committee of the school. Other guests included members of the Board of Management of CES, Members of Managing Committee of the school, Principals of other units of Bal Bharati; teachers and students of the neighbourhood schools as well as those from other Bal Bharati units. Besides, there were also members of the PTA and the Alumni Association of the school, parents of the participants and the staff members of the school itself.

The event culminated with Ms Radha Nair, Convenor of the Dramatics Club of the school proposing the Vote of thanks.
