SPORTS DAY

CLASSES: I,II & III 

Sports is the celebration of the human spirit and youth, it not only inspires young minds but also teaches good values and ethics to young students. At Bal Bharati, we believe  that the academic success of children can be significantly affected by their participation in sports. Sports and games are thus an integral part of our curriculum. The Sports Day was organised for the students of classes I,II & III on 22 February, 24 February and 27 February respectively. The students competed against each other in sports events like 50m race, hurdle race, relay race, ball roll and skipping. Apart from the athletic events various fun games were also organised for the students to ensure mass participation. 

The weeklong celebration and indulgence into games & sports was culminated on 28.02.23. The culmination event opened with a glorious March Past display by the students of different houses. The synchronized swing of their arms and the sound of their thudding feet was an enthralling experience for all.

This was followed by a Torch Relay which witnessed the passing of the torch by the sports champions from class III to the aspiring champions from class II. The relay was symbolic of the passing of hope and faith from one generation to another. 

The day was filled with an array of sports activities like fun races including lemon and spoon race, hurdle race and races for special children, that splattered a riot of hues and vibrance on the field. An incredible yoga display was the main attraction of the day. The performance was praiseworthy & awe-inspiring and depicted  the essence of yoga, i.e balance between the mind & the body. 

The skipping Display was another spectacular part of the programme. The students displayed incredible balance, flexibility and coordination while steadily skipping to rhythmic music.  

The zealous peers constantly applauded the enthusiastic young sports stars. The programme came to an end with the prize distribution ceremony and all the winners were awarded a medal & certificate for their exemplary performance.

BAL-SABHA ACTIVITY : INTERCLASS FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT

CLASS-III

Playing football helps in improving the fine motor skills, balance and flexibility in children. It facilitates development of skills like teamwork and coordination.

Interclass Football tournament was organized for the students of class III on 3 February 2023. The tournament was a league cum knock-out event. The students enthusiastically competed with their opponents and demonstrated their skills & strength while playing one of the most physically demanding sport. The tournament was an enriching experience for the budding sports enthusiasts who imbibed virtues like fair play, collaboration, resilience and integrity.

All the winners were rewarded with a medal and certificate. 

CHESS ACTIVITY & COMPETITION

Chess is a universally played indoor game which requires wit and intellect. With an aim to promote   development of higher-order thinking skills - like problem solving & decision making in children, a chess activity and competition was organised for the students of classes I & II and III respectively. Students were introduced to the strategy game and briefed about the different pieces & their specific moves. They learnt how to set up the chess board and were apprised of the basic rules of the game.  

For recapitulation the students of classes I & II attempted a follow-up worksheet on 18.01.23 & 23.01.23 respectively. The worksheet was indeed a positive reinforcement which would motivate them to learn and excel in the game. 

A chess competition was organised for the students of class III on 25.01.23. The competition was conducted using Swiss manager software, an administration & pairing program for chess tournaments.  It was a delight to see the children engrossed in the competition that gave  them an  opportunity to showcase their knowledge and skills.

ATTITUDE BUILDER - (SAY) Adventure Camp

Play forms an integral part of a child’s routine, be it indoor with blocks and boards or outdoor with balls, nets and tracks. ‘Adventure Camps’  may not be a routine but generate excitement and thrill among children of all age groups. Adventure camps are not only fun but also help in inculcating several skills in children, like enhancing gross and fine motor skills, team spirit and collaboration.

An adventure camp was organised for the students of Classes I, II & III wherein they got the opportunity to be a part of various challenging and  recreational activities like Trampoline, Bowling ball , Dart game to name a few. They also tried their hands on commando roller, zipline, cat crawl and many more exciting activities that helped in boosting their confidence.

The  activities helped in developing team spirit, endurance & self-discipline in children and the energy and enthusiasm exhibited by them was enthralling.

CRAB RACE

Class 1 

Sports Competitions are a platform for the students to showcase their talent and have fun while being physically active. They also learn the basics of sports and build their motor-skills. Crab race, a well-planned Bal Sabha competition was organized on 27.10.2022 for the students of class I. The participants enjoyed strolling like a Crab to reach the other end of the track in minimum possible time.

The competition was filled with fervour & excitement and witnessed thrills, shrills and cheers. The activity gave our budding sportspersons an opportunity to display their self-confidence, patience, zeal and sportsmanship. The happy faces of the students showcased the level of their joy.

ACTIVITY: BACK TO THE ROOTS: KABADDI

Sports have a big role to play in the development of the students as physical exercise is equally important for their mental growth & development. With a motive to boost self-defensive skills and to develop physical strength & speed among our little champions, an exciting activity ‘Kabaddi’ was organised for the students on 22 September 2022. Kabaddi, the traditional Indian game, aims at improving stamina, speed, flexibility, neuromuscular coordination and ability to multitask in children. 

The students were made aware of the rules and regulations of the game through a demonstration. They were ecstatic to play the game which helped in improving their ability to plan, organize, get along with others, and regulate emotions.  They learnt and enjoyed the game playing it with their classmates. The activity increased their interest in the local & traditional games. 

BAL SABHA SPORTS ACTIVITY

HELP YOUR BUDDY

Playing sports provides important benefits for the young, ranging from improvement in fitness and health to the development of team spirit and feeling of accomplishment. An Inter House Sports Activity - Help Your Buddy was organized for the students of class II on 8 September 2022. In this activity, the participants were divided into groups of three wherein two players had to pick up the third player and reach the finish line in the minimum possible time. 

The aim of the activity was to make the students work together as a team to accomplish a common goal. The little ones performed the activity with great enthusiasm and zeal. They learned to act responsibly and help others. 

SWIMMING COMPETITION 

The Primary Department, GR Campus won the Overall Championship in the Boys as well as Girls category on September 9, 2022.

 HELP YOUR BUDDY

 CLASS- III

“Exercise not only changes your body, it changes your mind, your attitude and your body”.

To develop strength, quality of team spirit and to make students aware about how they can support each other with specific tasks, a Bal Sabha Sports activity ‘Help your Buddy’ was conducted on 04.08.22 for the students of class III.

In this activity two students from each group had to carry one player and reach the finish line. The students had to complete the rally to make their respective House win.

Through this activity, the students learnt the importance of communication and collaboration for being successful.

ORGANIZE AND PLAY

   CLASS  I

With an aim to build motor skills and develop  strength, agility and balance in children, inter house activity, Organize and Play was conducted for the students of Class I on 14.07.22. The children were divided into eight teams according to their houses. Each team member had to jump over the hurdle which was a ring and move forward by placing it in front. The activity motivated the children to work in a team. Besides physical and mental development, life skills like ,organizing and managing were also enhanced.

SKIPPING RELAY

Skipping rope is an excellent motor skill-building activity. The steady cadence and rhythm of jumping rope help in improving hand-eye coordination. With an aim to help improve cognitive skills and promote agility, an inter house Skipping Relay activity was organised for the students of Class II on 05.5.22. The participant teams were required to skip from the start line to the finish line using a skipping rope. The harmonious union of body and mind aligned them to optimism and promoted a feeling of wellbeing. The first three teams finishing the skipping relay were declared winners. 

CRAB RACE

Sports and games play a vital role in our lives. Participation in Sport Activities help building positive self- esteem in children. It also reduces stress and develops a feeling of physical and mental well-being in them.

Sports activity, Crab Race was organised for the students of class III on 28 April 2022. In this fun activity, the participants moved like a Crab to reach the other end of the track in minimum possible time. They challenged their physical strength and developed neuromuscular coordination and abdominal strength.
