VASANTOTSAV 2021

(February 2021)

To usher in the much-awaited Spring season, Primary Department, GR Campus organised its first ever Virtual Celebration of Basant Panchami-Vasnatotsav 2021.

Basant Panchami is the festival dedicated to Goddess Saraswati, the goddess of knowledge, language, music and arts. The season and festival also mark the onset of Spring and celebrate the agricultural fields' ripening with yellow flowers of mustard crop, which Indians associate with Goddess Saraswati's favourite color.

With the aim of making our students aware about our festivals and culture, the students of Classes IV -V were encouraged to participate in a myriad of the festival related activities with gusto. Traditions and rituals related to the festival of Basant Panchami and Saraswati Puja were discussed during the live Music classes by the music teacher Ms. Garima Gupta and students were taught Saraswati Mantra. Our endeavour provided the students a platform to present their ideas and feelings through poem composition, recitation, kite making, kite flying, Saraswati mantra recital, dances, and captivating works of art on the same theme. Some Students also shared pictures of the prasad preparation (sweet yellow rice) and invocation of Goddess Saraswati as part of their celebration of the festival at home

The compiled video was streamed on the school’s official YouTube channel and highly appreciated by all the students, staff and parents. Overwhelming response from parents and students really made our endeavour a grand success!! Please find attached below the link to watch the video: https://youtu.be/rcKh7IOIJaA

Vocabulary Enrichment Programme

Words are the currency of communication in any language. A robust vocabulary improves all areas of communication — listening, speaking, reading and writing

It infuses us with feelings of pride and gratification that our endeavour of Vocabulary Enrichment has blossomed under the invaluable guidance and as per the recommendations of Ms Rekha Sharma, Educational Advisor, CES. A plethora of engaging and fun filled activities and exercises were conducted on a regular basis during the session to enhance knowledge and language skills of children. These included activities to augment word power, use of prefixes, suffixes, homophones, and vocabulary quizzes. Videos showing correct pronunciation of words were shared to teach correct pronunciation which is of paramount importance for effective communication.
