Aao Hath Barhayein – Community Care Takers (2018-2019)

‘Reverence and Care- Helping our Helpers’ 

 

For the holistic growth and development of our children, it's necessary that they are exposed to real life experiences through hands-on activities, which go  a long way to make them tomorrow's responsible citizen and a good human being.

In yet another endeavour to sensitise them and foster a feeling of community service in them club activity themed - Reverence and Care- Helping our Helpers was organised on 14.2.19.

The students were guided to prepare a thank you card for the helpers that make their life easy ,comfortable, memorable and enjoyable. All the students put their heart and soul and prepared beautiful cards for the helpers in school and at home.

Later ,  to show their gratitude the students presented the handmade cards  to the different  helpers in school - teachers, bus driver, conductor, sweepress, maid , medical attendant etc. The smiles on the faces of the students while giving the cards and on the faces of the helpers while receiving this token of love , was worth a million dollar. The students were blessed with heartfelt wishes by all the helpers.

Collaborative Activity with Blind Relief Association


An interactive session – Exploring Braille was organised for the students in collaboration with The Blind Relief Organisation, Lodhi Road on 22.11.18. The session was conducted by Mr. Sudhanshu, a Braille instructor at The Blind School, Lodhi Road, New Delhi.

The session was aimed at enlightening the students about Braille , a tactile reading system which is  used by the blind or visually impaired to read and write. The students got an opportunity to explore and learn about Braille slate used for writing in Braille.  They were amazed to learn about the auditory cricket ball used by the blind children to play cricket.

Handmade diyas & candles,  bowl made of paper mache  made  by the blind students along with a cricket ball used by them were also displayed in the session. The Workshop concluded with a Question & Answer Session in which Mr. Sudhanshu addressed the queries of the students related to day to day life of the visually impaired people. The session was a very enriching experience for all.

‘We Salute your Sacrifices- Thanking our Police Force’ 

The activity conducted on 25.10.18 was aimed at sensitising the students towards the importance and role of the Police Force in our society. The activity began with an interaction through which the contribution of the Indian Police Force towards keeping the society safe and secure was highlighted. The students made colourful Thank-You cards and expressed their gratitude for the professionalism, bravery and sacrifices of the Police Force. They wrote heart touching and inspirational messages for the officers saluting their selfless service.

Visit to Arya Mahila Ashram, Rajinder Nagar

A visit to Arya Mahila Ashram, Rajinder Nagar, New Delhi was organised for the students on 20.9.18. The visit to the old age home was aimed at sensitising them towards community services and instilling the qualities of sharing and caring in them. Our students presented a musical programme to show their gratitude towards the senior citizens of the society. It included a beautiful bhajan sung by the school choir, poems highlighting the role of the elderly in the society and evergreen melodies celebrating the bond of love between grand children and their grandmothers.
One of the members of the Old Age Home addressed the students and emphasised the importance of caring and sharing as a key to happiness in life. Our students presented a handmade card to the members along with a flower to each one of them as a token of love and respect.
A wall clock and clothes were also donated at the organisation.
The interaction was a great learning experience for our students and they brought back memories to cherish for life.

Lend a Helping Hand - Visit to Arya Kanya Gurukul 

The Club, ‘Aao Haath Barhayein’, which aims at sensitising the students towards community service organised a visit to Arya Kanya Gurukul , Rajinder Nagar on 23.08.18. The visit there was a great learning experience for the students and they got an insight into the lives of the young girls residing and studying in the institute.
The  interaction included a cultural presentation by our students and the students of the Gurukul. Our students gifted the students of Gurukul a self-made card, a packet of chips along with a pack of juice each and got chocolates from them in return as a token of love. It was a memorable experience for all the students as they learnt how small gestures of love and sharing can spread happiness.

Visit to Katayayni Nirashrit Balika Ashram

In yet another endeavour to sensitise  the students and foster a feeling of community service in them, a visit to Katayayni Nirashrit Balika Ashram, located in Jhandewalan, New Delhi was organised for the students of Classes II C & III C on 19.7.18, under the aegis of Aao Hath Barhayein Club. The inquisitive students enthusiastically interacted with the well disciplined and affectionate children of the orphanage and learnt valuable life lessons. They gifted them best wishes card along with a packet of chips and  juice as a token of love. The children at the Balika Ashram responded with a lot of love & warmth and our students brought back memories to cherish forever. 

Saluting Moms

To honour and acknowledge the contribution of mothers in a society, activity - ‘Saluting Moms’ was organised under the aegis of Aao Hath Barhayein Club on 19.4.18.

The activity commenced with an interactive session wherein the students shared stories and incidents depicting the importance and role of their mother in their life. As a follow up activity they made Thank You card with beautiful messages expressing their love and gratitude towards their mother. They creatively showcased their feelings and emotions through attractive and colourful cards with soul touching messages and slogans.
