Reverence and Care- Thanking our Helpers

 

In the activity held on 25.1.17 the students were sensitised about the role of different helpers in our life with focus on helpers in school. They made Thank You cards with a special message for our helpers. The students presented chocolates, chips and self made cards to all helpers in the school to show their love and gratitude towards them. The helpers which included school maids, sweepers, peons, gardener, security guards, bus conductors and drivers felt very special and blessed all the children.

We treasure your blessings- Visit to Old Age Home

 

Under the aegis of Aao Haath Barhayein Club, a visit to Arya Mahila Ashram, Rajinder Nagar was planned for the students on 21.12.17. The students celebrated Christmas at the Mahila Ashram and brought smiles to some wrinkled yet  joyful faces.
They presented a musical programme which began with chanting of the Gayatri Mantra and a prayer. The presentation included a melodious Christmas Carol reflecting the true spirit of the  festival. While addressing the students the representative of the old age home spoke about the significance of Christmas and emphasised the importance of caring, sharing and spreading goodness all around. One of the students who was dressed up as Santa Claus distributed sweets and goodies to all. Our students also gifted  handmade cards & flowers to the members. They also donated woollen accessories like caps, socks, shawls etc. as a token of love and respect.
The overwhelmed members of the Ashram applauded the initiative of the school and blessed the children. It was a very enriching experience for the students and the teachers alike.

Exploring Braille

 

Under the aegis of the club an interactive session on ‘Braille' was organised for the students in collaboration with The Blind Relief Organisation, Lodhi Road on 23.11.17. The activity was aimed at sensitising the students towards the blind people in the society and making them aware how the blind students overcome their disability and excel in life. The session was conducted by Mr. Sudhanshu, a Braille instructor  at The Blind School, Lodhi Road, New Delhi. He demonstrated how Braille, is used by the visually impaired students to read and write.
Various queries regarding the day to day life of the blind children were very patiently answered by Mr. Sudhanshu. While addressing the children he discussed and explained how blind students play various games and sports and are trained in skills like candle making, chair weaving etc. He also showed the special cricket ball used by the visually impaired children to play the game. A text book in Braille was also displayed and the students got an opportunity to feel and explore it. The session was very fruitful and enlightening for all.

Swachch Vidyalaya – My Dream School

The activity organised on 27.10.17 began with adiscussion on the use of different types of dustbins and segregation of waste (Green/Blue) through a PPT and You Tube Video. It was followed by a poster/ sticker making activity. The students made posters for the class display board, corridors and runners with a slogan or message to keep the surroundings clean.

Love and Veneration – Showering Love on Grandparents

 

The activity organised 21.09.17 commenced with an interactive session in which the students shared how they spend time with their grandparents. They showcased their artistic skills and made beautiful cards for their grandparents with an emotional message symbolic of their love and affection for them.

Thanking our Gurus

After a discussion on importance and role of a teacher, the story ‘Feast to the Mice’ – by Rabindra  Nath Tagore was    narrated  to the students. This was followed by a Card Making Activity in which the students made attractive cards with   a special   message to thank their class teachers.

Helping Hand- Visit to Arya Kanya Gurukul

 A visit to ‘Arya Kanya Gurukul’ , Rajinder Nagar, was organised under the aegis of the club- ‘Aao Hath Barhayein -Community Care Takers’ , on 20.7.17. The aim of the visit was to teach the students importance of sharing and foster a feeling of community service in them. Our students interacted with the students of the Gurukul and presented them a packet of chips and chocolate along with a best wishes card made by them as a token of their love. The students of our school and the Gurkul showcased their talent through a cultural presentation.

Earth Day Celebrations

The students were shown videos & PPT related to Earth Day followed by discussion and poster making activity in which they made attractive posters on the theme ‘Save Earth’ & wrote quotes & slogans on Earth Day.
