  • The Literary Club was initiated in the year 2008 to inculcate a love of reading amongst students. The club has been growing ever since, in terms of numbers and the wide range of activities that are organized each session
  • The Literary Club of the Senior Department observed “World Book and Copyright Day” on 23 April 2015 with a Declamation Competition and an Interactive Session with an upcoming writer, Mr Paras Joshi. The Declamation Competition had 10 participants expounding on a current affair topic allotted to them. The judges for the event included English language teachers of the Senior department-Ms Radha Nair, Ms Meera Asthana and Ms Puja Ahuja. The participants displayed their oratorical skills and were applauded by the audience. The winners were –

  • The writer, Paras Joshi, an alumnus of our school, whose first novel ‘Equilibrium’, won popular acclaim, lauded the performance of the speakers. He answered questions and explained how he had achieved the distinction of becoming a novelist at the age of 20. Paras recalled his years at BBPSGR and encouraged students to take up creative writing.
  • On 28 July 2015, Literary club held an activity ‘Categorization of the Books’ for classes IV and V. Students were divided into groups and were required to segregate books into different genres. The best groups were awarded Certificates.
  • On 10 August 2015, Literary club of the middle department organised, Poster & Slogan Writing Competition on the topic “What is the true meaning of freedom?” The best posters were selected and students were awarded Certificates for the same
  • On 13 August 2015, Literary Club of the Senior department organised a ‘Freedom Quiz’ based on ancient and modern history, with special emphasis on Indian freedom struggle. The Quiz was conducted by Ms Subhadra Sen Gupta, winner of the 2015 Sahitya Akademi’s Bal Sahitya Puraskar. She was accompanied by Mr Ankit Aggarwal of Book Wook publication and Mr Ankit Juneja, Marketing Head, Penguin India. The Quiz was followed by an Interactive Session conducted by Ms Sen which focused on how to write good stories.
  • Literary club of middle department held a creative activity for making greeting cards on the theme ‘Gratitude towards Teachers’ on 1 September 2015. Certificates were given to the winning students.
  • The activity ‘Word Puzzle’ was organised 30 September 2015 for the club members of Primary Department. The activity required students to reorder alphabets to form words and then frame an appropriate sentence using each of the corrected words.
  • A book discussion activity on the novel, Hard Times, by Charles Dickens was conducted for the club members of the Middle Department on 5 October 2015. Based on the novel and its author, a Quiz Competition was held for class VI; PPT presentation for class VII; and Article writing for class VIII.
  • The club commemorated 150th centenary of Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll with the screening of a film based on this classic novel, a book discussion and poster making.
  • On 17 October 2015, the Oscar winning film ‘Gandhi’ by Richard Attenborough was screened for the club members of the Senior department followed by a quiz based on the film. The winners were awarded British Council Membership Cards.
  • Selected 30 club members attended a Book Launch followed by an Interactive Session with the author Stephen Alter on his book ‘The Secret Sanctuary’ on 23 November 2015 at WWF, Lodi Road. Vanshika Kumar (XE) and Akshit Verma (XC) won prizes for their participation in a quiz.
  • An activity, ‘A Cover Page’ was held for the students of class IV and V on 4 December 2015. Students showed their creative skills by painting and illustrating the covers of Enid Blyton’s books. The students also took a pledge to nurture their love for reading consistently.
  • The Middle department held a ‘Graffiti’ writing activity encouraging students to pen their thoughts regarding ‘Reading Books’ on 3December 2015.
  • A rendezvous with popular children’s author, Ms Coonor Kripalani was held for club members of Middle department on 28November 2015.Introducing her new children’s book ‘Let’s Do Yoga’, she fielded a volley of queries about writing books and making it a profession
  • Club members of Middle department demonstrated their oratory skills in the ‘Skit’ competition focusing on ‘Corruption’ which was held on 8 December 2015.
  • On 23 December 2015, Annual Book Reading session was organized for the members of the Senior Department in which excerpts from the novels of various authors were read aloud. This was followed by Christmas carols and celebrations.
