ROAD SAFETY CLUB

 

In view of the Importance of Road Safety a number of activities were conducted by Delhi Traffic Police under School Road Safety Awareness Campaign 2017-18 at Traffic Training park, Baba Kharak Singh Marg from 4th December 2017 to 8th December 2017. In total 20 students from the Middle Department and the Senior Department participated in these events.

Prize distribution ceremony of the Range Level Competitions was organised by Road Safety Cell, Delhi Traffic Police on 14 December 2017 at Teen Murti Bhawan.

The event started with the welcome of the Chief Guest Sh. Deependra Pathak, IPS, Special Commissioner of Police, Traffic. The basic principle behind establishing the road safety cell and conducting various activities related to road safety in schools was discussed. The main purpose of these activities was to sow the seeds of road safety and obeying traffic rules among children right from their childhood. 9 students from our school won the prizes.

LUNG CARE FOUNDATION

 

225 students along with 10 teachers from the Middle Department participated in an event organised by LUNG CARE FOUNDATION on 23 December 2017 at Thyagraj Stadium where approximately 5300 students from prestigious 35 schools of Delhi-NCR participated to create a GUINNESS WORLD RECORD of the largest human image of an organ. The objective behind this program was to generate awareness and consciousness about the need for healthy lungs. The event was graced by Delhi’s Ex-Lieutenant Governor Mr Najeeb Jung as the Chief Guest.

They awarded the students, teachers and respective school with a Certificate of Participation and a specially designed Participation Card stating their involvement in making this world record. The students of our school, displaying immense vigour and enthusiasm, gave interview bytes to leading news channels like NDTV and Doordarshan. The teachers also voiced their opinions and conveyed a heartfelt gratitude to our Principal Mr L V Sehgal for giving them this opportunity to witness the visual spectacle.

INTERACT CLUB (PROJECT ROSHINI)

 

 

The club conducted Session – I and Session – II of Project ROSHNI at PALNA in collaboration with Environment Club and Horticultural Club on 14 and 21 December 2017 respectively under the guidance of Ms Sandhya Thapar, Ms Arti Gupta and Ms. Preeti Saxena.

The students from the Primary and Middle Department engaged in imparting knowledge of various useful life skills to the students of PALNA.

FACE TO FACE: A Contemporary Conversation

 

An inter- house event FACE TO FACE: A Contemporary Conversation was organised by the Middle Department on 26 December 2017. All the houses depicted a variety of topics such as improvement in agriculture, Green Revolution, ISRO’s spatial progress and so on. The competition was adjudged by Ms Anita Dua and Ms Monisha Malik Sabharwal. However, keeping the spirit of the competition alive, C V Raman and Jawahar House emerged as the winners followed by Mother Teresa House at the second position and Shivaji House secured the third position. The event culminated at an optimistic note.

Sanskrit Week

As a part of Sanskrit Week Celebrations in the school, various activities were organised from 3 – 10 August 2017. Students from classes 6th to 10th took part enthusiastically in the activities including singing Sare Jahaan Se Achcha in Sanskrit language in the Morning Assembly Program, Sanskrit Bhashan, Sanskrit Slogan Writing, Sanskrit Samachar and Sanskrit Naatak Prastutikaran. The movie Adi Shankaracharya was also shown to the students as part of the celebration.

Championship Quotient

An Inter House competition, ‘Championship Quotient’ was organised on 25th July 2017 in the Middle Department library. 16 students participated in the quiz (2 per house from Classes VII and VIII). The quiz comprised of four rounds. The theme of the quiz was ‘Incredible India’. The first round aimed at testing the students’ general awareness about culture, tradition, cuisines and national integrity of India. In the second round, each team tagged creative captions for the photographs displaying various social evils that existed in India. The third round allowed the participants to express their views on any burning social issue of our times. In the final round, the top three qualifying teams competed against each other by facing an extempore and displaying problem-solving skills.

Ashoka house bagged the First position followed by Subhash and Shivaji house.

 

Calculative Minds

An inter house activity ‘ Calculative Minds’ was held on 9 May 2017 in the Middle Department library. Three participants , each from Classes VI, VII and VIII represented their respective houses. The quiz involved quick calculations from basic day-to-day Mathematics topics. Quiz Master Ms Agrita Khandelwal lauded the efforts of the participants and appreciated their quick calculative minds.

The first position was bagged by Abhimanyu House . C.V Raman and Shivaji House stood Second and Third respectively.

Peep into the past

The Heritage Club of Middle Department held a Poster Making Activity 'Peep into the past'on May 8, 2017 in the Art Room on the topic 'Ancient Civilisations of the World'.  About 35 Members of the club from all the three classes i.e VI to VIII took part in the activity. 

Doodle 4 Google

An Inter-House activity ‘ Doodle 4 Google’ was held on 25 April 2017.  Three participants each from VI, VII an VIII represented their house. The theme for the artwork was ‘ Incredible India’. The activity required the students to doodle using their imagination on the spot. The aim was to bring forth the creative genius latent in every child. Students presented beautifully crafted and visually appealing artwork. The teams were judged on the strokes, Artistic merit and Originality of their work by Ms. Soma Ganguly and Ms. Satwinder Kaur. Jawahar House was awarded first  position.  The Second and the Third position were bagged by Abhimanyu and Mother Teresa house respectively.
